S-Club-7
Do I spy some " slab and bracket " chairs in amongst the other goodies? Martyn. Yes you did; but they are based on the designs used by the LNER, SR and LMS. GWR slab & bracket chairs are available from here. RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 24, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 24, 2016 Managed to pinch a little time today in between Christmas eve activities... Added metal washers to the bolt holes, fitted the pattern makers dowels and put in some screws that I forgot... Then did some sanding and fettling before adding the cork on board 4.... Apparently I'm not laying sleepers tomorrow!
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 24, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 24, 2016 As before I've drilled the washer plates so that they can be screwed to the board ends. Stops them coming loose as they do when glued on. The plates stop the bolts pulling through the ply over time.

Just figuring out how best to fit a V shaped crossing into them.
N15class
All looking good. It's funny how these women think some things are more important than putting down sleepers. Merry Christmas to you all.

I dont expect you will be posting here either. Mind you Marion did comment perhaps I should make a small mini layout with a christmasy scene to put on display each year rather than bother with a tree. We haven't had a real tree for years. We had a parrot at the time who took off and attacked the imitation Robin in the tree although he did seem to like the glittery balls. Something not quite normal seeing a big Amazon parrot in the Christmas tree. Don

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 28, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2016 Back at home today and, with the cork on board 4 firmly stuck down, it's time to add the final templates. But first i had a fiddle with the clay branch and siding. A catch/trap was added (the clay siding turnout will be a hand pull, so I've assumed the catch/trap will work with the main turnout off the platform road). The V on the clay siding turnout was amended to a curviform as this maintained the opposing curve through the branch road. The position of the clay siding was adjusted to align with the thoughts I've had on the scenic treatment around that area. I now have a wodge of A4 sheets to stick down... But before I do that, it's a trip into the garage to cut the three track exits out of the end board upstand.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 28, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2016 Minor board mods (spot the difference)... I know folk laugh at the holes in the board beams but they are incredibly handy when moving the layout around, something positive to grip which reduces the risk of dropping it.
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 28, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2016 So after that the was some sanding if the cork to get the vertical curves bob on, followed by printing the templot drawing. A roll of double sided tape and much trimming later we see all the templates fixed to the board...
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 28, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2016 And then making a start on laying all the sleepers... The clay siding and branch have the sleeper ends arranged a bit more raggedly than the mainline, decided to do that after looking at photos... RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 28, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2016 And then more sleepers... Then I needed something heavy to weigh some paper down. Found this. It was marginally too heavy but I was able to sort that out. Sleepers done. Rails next. Joy.
