RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 5, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2015 Today is the first anniversary of the big storms, certainly the anniversary of the first 'morning after'. There is an event taking place in/around Dawlish station today, and BBC Spotlight will be filming, amongst others.
Granitechops
In fact it was 58 out of 154 as of lunch time today. Heavy seas will prevent movement of more 'L' sections from Teignmouth to the JUBs for a day or so now. Observation its a good job those on the ground, listen to weather forecasts, but also use local knowledge, by Dawlish Beach webcam 'L'units were delivered this am (7 ish?) and are now being placed on the wall sea looks quite placid ( but dont turn your back on it!!) From NWR cam and from Dawlish Beach Cam

ChrisJD
A new NR video for the anniversary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEt9_NYKR9E Sadly, it seems to have replaced the live NR webcam view.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 6, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2015 I bet NR are rather glad they acquired that drone outfit - or is it operated by a DOC on their behalf?
Professor Plumtree
Today is the first anniversary of the big storms, certainly the anniversary of the first 'morning after'. There is an event taking place in/around Dawlish station today, and BBC Spotlight will be filming, amongst others. I think NR have been very smart, just getting on with second phase of strengthening, which I suggest weakens the case for an alternative route. No doubt some will disagree. Will there be a third phase: maybe putting Dawlish station partly into a concrete box...
Granitechops
Looks like very little on site work will get done today Jacking barges well up, no gangways down little sign of activity on the Dawlish beach webcam, it looks like NWR have replaced the webcam pic with a video instead dont know when that got moved but there was an orange water tank trailer on the wall to the right of the blue genny/compressor hope the sea didn't get it EDIT;- just checked my pics from yesterday at 3pm ish , the tank was not there then, perhaps back on the JUB? but there were 2 blue gennys/ comps one behind the other maybe the other is out of sight of the webcam? RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 7, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2015 at a guess, you have swopped your hard hat for a wooly one Indeed I did - there was no need for the full PPE that afternoon, as we weren't going anywhere that required it, but the orange jacket was nice and warm... I did see you up on the higher level, and meant to come over and have a chat, but by the time I'd finished talking to the work colleagues, you'd disappeared!

Spot Kernow.jpg I did see you up on the higher level, and meant to come over and have a chat, but by the time I'd finished talking to the work colleagues, you'd disappeared! Didn't recognise you till I downloaded my pics onto the big screen, I had been out for over 2 hours by then & although well wrapped up, 2 coats with hood, leg muff on, decided it was time to move on before the cold got to me. But I did have a field day with photos!!

Granitechops
Swing arm shovel in trouble, he had left Redrock, & was nearly at Rockstone bridge when he lurched sideways in a spot of soft sand, he swung his bucket arm out to stop further tipping then he swung back the other way & put his bucket on the bottom step to possibly pull him self out but now he's not moving. Boss? do you want the good news first or the bad??
