I believe the Triang / Hornby B12 was too short. The John Gardner drawing from GERS says the length of footplate should be 35' 2". Does the Crownline conversion correct the body to be the correct length?

The C7 is wrecked by mounting the cylinder under the running plate angle with the piston well below the driving wheel centre line. Only half the cylinder should be on view but I recognise it would be difficult if not impossible to achieve if the running plate is a thick casting.

B12 if you look at the photo you can see the whitemetal extension on the boiler behind the smokebox, a further whitemetal extension to the footplate and a etched brass smokebox and new saddle.

C7 very solid footplate and impossible to raise cylinders without a new footplate.

Love the B12.  It was the R.150 version that got me into the hobby over 30 years ago, a birthday gift from my parents.  I still have it, will never part with it, although it's a little knocked about now.

I could never buy the current offering though, far too inaccurate for today's standards.  Maybe one day I'll get a kit for it!  Although it would be lovely if Hornby or Bachmann brought out a proper version of it.

Just had another look at the photos and I see that you've left the steam pipe on the left hand side.  Was that standard?  My understanding was that they were inside on the prototype and the outside ones portrayed on the model were an error on Hornby's part.

Just started on a conversion of the Bachammn A2 to A/3 using Graemes Kings excellent resin parts.

Secondhand A2 which had been named as a A2/3!! ??  and matt black chucked over it to finish the poor thing off.
