RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted May 16, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2019 Back in the room thanks to Andy. Yes, I am also posting on Western Thunder. I have ordered a few choice spares for the dodgy Adams Radial. As a tip, I have been ordering my Hornby spares from Lendons of Cardiff. Good quick service and very reasonable prices. I would recommend them without reservation. In addition the game is afoot by way of an experiment with the 700.......hopefully this will improve the running... We like the 700 Rob 16 1

Thank all for you 'likes' and kind words. There are a few pictures showing the various steps I take with the weathering, Calvin.............somewhere in this rambling thread of waffle. Perchance it's high time I did it again. Rob. 3 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted May 26, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 26, 2019 Perhaps inevitably, Bleat Wharf has taken on a distinctly 'Sarf Westun' flavour this afternoon. Fortunately, Norman Lockhart was on hand to record the visitor in the form of 700 class 30693. Norman always had a soft spot for these and '693 was looking the part. RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted May 26, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 26, 2019 (edited) A couple more views of South Western activity at Bleat Wharf. Norman was very pleased with himself. Rob. Edited May 26, 2019 by NHY 581 22
RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted May 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 27, 2019 (edited) A long view of Mutton taken from the top of the goods yard. An Adams Radial pauses with the return goods working to Eweminster. From the crest it looks like 30583. I suspect the loco crew and guard are chatting with Senior Porter Ronnie Barker over a cup of tea and probably looking to come away with some rhubarb from his large garden to the rear of the station building. RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted June 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 2, 2019 That's astonishing, Rob; the lighting suggestive of the sun coming out after a storm and the sheen on the boiler looking perfect for that scenario! Today I am mostly building Parkside wagons, later. 1 1

My visits here are somewhat brief and infrequent at present for a variety of reasons. I did think of a 22XX for a time. However, I take the view that the dear old S&DJR was unique in many ways, the combination of Midland locos and Southern infrastructure being just one. To me, this is the most obvious and sets any layout depicting the S&D apart. Now, and this is my 'umble opinion Guv'nor...............if we start plonking EX-GWR types about the place.......it becomes just another Western Region layout....... If we is to 'Ave Westarn motive power, it 'as to be Sarf Westarn, mate. Gor blimey! Geezer. Edited June 4, 2019 by NHY 581 19 2 2
