RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 18, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 Here's a useless piece of info: Arnold Ridley wrote the play "The Ghost Train". Dave Inspired by a wait at a deserted Mangotsfield station one night........ Rob

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 Fancy leaving the loco across the road access to the yard.... tut tut. That's known as s*d's law - and clearly Driver Ridley was something of a s*d
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 So will Norman be taking his camera to Cardiff at the weekend, Rob?
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 18, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 So will Norman be taking his camera to Cardiff at the weekend, Rob? Indeed he will, CK. Hopefully he will come away with some nice images. I have still got a bit to do before I can relax but I am getting there.......I think. Previously I have exhibited as part of a club with the club layout. This is the first time I have gone solo with my own efforts......gulp!! Rob. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted January 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 You've got nothing to worry about, you have a superb little layout. Can't say you'll be as well treated at Taunton though - ask Black Rat how much stick he gets and he only brings a shirt !
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 18, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 Thank you, Stubbers. That's very kind. As for Black Rat, I have something similar up my sleeve.....so to speak. We met up at the other Cardiff show last October and it was evident, shall we say, that we have a like minded wardrobe. 'Nuff said. Rob
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted January 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 But what traffic does that box van convey? Is it a load of 1960s vintage Whirlpool Surg-o-matic washing machines, that have been temporarily shunted aside due to a hot box en-route from a factory in the Midlands to a show room in Surrey? Could it be a consignment of distributor caps for the Humber Super Snipe, en-route to a dealership in Barnstaple? Or perhaps an order of circular occasional tables, en-route for a sales stand at the Ideal Home Exhibition? Who can tell us the answer to this conundrum? And what are occasional tables the rest of the time? Are they part time traffic signals? Surely in an Ideal Home they would be permanent?
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2017 And what are occasional tables the rest of the time? Are they part time traffic signals? Surely in an Ideal Home they would be permanent? They might occasionally aspire to be part-time traffic signals, but it depends on whether they can get the right qualifications.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 19, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2017 They might occasionally aspire to be part-time traffic signals, but it depends on whether they can get the right qualifications. Indeed CK. One of the requirements is that they become fully conversant with their times tables. Rob

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 19, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) I am intrigued by Surge O Matic.........................I wonder why? Daz. They certainly knew how to make adverts back in the 1960s. None of this poncy touchy-feely 'I'm telling you a narrative in lots of exciting episodes' nonsense that we get today. Actually setting up on Saturday but I need all the luck I can muster. I am having a trial erection in the dining room tonight. Lots of little jobs to attend to. Trying to work through them but getting distracted. Not at all confident about this but onward and um.....upward. Rob.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 19, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2017 By the way, I have just noticed that 50 of you kind souls are following my stuff and mostly nonsense. I am bowled over by your interest and your continuing 'likes' etc which provide much encouragement. This thread is the sum total of it's parts. You and me both. I shall try my utmost to keep it up........so to speak...... Bloody good show !!! Rob.
