  1. Can we have some Xmas music she says? Having waded through four figures of naffness I managed to find the sum total of 5 tracks that I didn't detest the level of naffness or were suitable for playing over a family Xmas lunch. ;)

Play the naff stuff when your in-laws come round Andy :)

I'd have dug out the Argo Transacords (Steam in the Snow or similar)Have a good one Andy.

  2. I was waiting to see this happen in its native land, lovely snaps Chris. It'll look even better with some magic muck on it and a rake of 16 tonners.
  3. Unfortunately I can't move galleries so it may be worth creating a topic with links to reference material?
  4. Following some sensible lobbying I'm pleased to provide a forum area dedicated to UK Std Gauge Industrial Railway modelling and prototype information. If you have any existing topics you wish to have moved into this area please reply to this topic with a link to the topic you wish to move and I'll take care of it for you.
  5. It's good to hear that people are now getting their hands on BP. Following the information from Barwell that they hadn't yet arrived I know there was substantial effort from many members of staff working flat out to get the BPs into their wooden boxes and out to the retailers for Christmas. Sometimes when I see criticism directed toward manufacturers it's frustrating when I can see their side of going the extra mile to keep customers and retailers as happy as possible and keep their business turning over, all happening quietly behind the scenes. If those people hadn't dug in behind the scenes there wouldn't have been BPs this side of Xmas.
  6. Thanks Ron, your info and source provides something more meaningful than the maps in this case.
  7. According to this map - http://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/assets.dft.gov.uk/hs2-apr-00-dr-rw-04001.pdf there will be a link from HS1 to HS2 without running into St Pancras. The plan does not show any chord from St Pancras to the HS1/HS2 link. Based on the plan through running should be possible but I'm sure any TOC would be twitchy about not including a London stop.
  8. Interesting modelling proposition - Birmingham International Interchange with monorail - best done in T gauge I think.
  9. I see that the route maps have been published today: Main Line Birmingham 'branch' List of individual maps So, I'll be able to look forward to a trip to Euston in less than an hour one day as HS2 will rejoin the WCML near Handsacre. I see that the Birmingham Station has a name of 'Fazeley Street'; I can see that changing.
  10. is exceptionally content, Christmas shopping finished this morning, feet up with a tasty lunch and a mug of Bovril. Ah, winter.

  12. I've had direct contact from Bachmann with an assurance that the model has not reached Barwell as yet - this information is correct as of 5 minutes ago.

Nice to see a Challenge entry out and about so far away Will. I'm a big fan of the vegetation and the ditch.
  15. will be calling someone to the beak's office for non-payment of a classified ad claiming to be in hospital but seems to be well enough to wander around the NEC.

But have you tried loosening the clips beneath the boiler and the cab handrails as shown in the OP? Your previous post just said you'd removed the pony tuck, bogie and two screws.

      Stop gloating ;) It's a 5.30 start for me tomorrow :(

  19. You'll get a better product by scouring auction sites and secondhand stalls for the original Airfix kit where you'll get a cleaner and better fitting product. Current Dapol wagon kit offerings are best avoided.

Hope that helps! I'm disappointed that the wheels in particular haven't received further blackening but heartened that someone's already tested the haulage capacity to extremes that I couldn't. For anyone looking for a speaker location I would suggest leaving the weight out of the firebox end as the sound will have a reasonable exit point through the cab.
  21. Having just seen this, somewhat belatedly (I wish the report function had been used earlier but thanks to those who did), I wish to publicly state my disgust at this post and the fact anyone can think it's appropriate to use this forum for such comments. Any repetition (or any rising to it in similar tones) will result in a red card. Simple.
  22. Yes; I was hoping no-one would be around today so I could have a closer nose around. Unlucky. This shot shows the progress of the trunking toward the 'new' tunnel a little better.
