  1. I was lucky enough to see Easton in the flesh last week (its even better in real life) when I spent a very pleasant morning drinking coffee with Mick in his garden to discuss changes in the way we would run the weathering courses at Missenden once he finished after this Autumn. He had already decided to stop his tutoring and demonstration activities and we were planning a transition. Easton is very much fixed in place in his workshop and while I agree withe sentiment I feel we should now wait until his widow decides how she wants to deal with his workshop, layout, model collection, books etc. Like many of us Mick had a large collection of "stuff" accumulated over many years...I'm just very glad I had that morning with him just before he was taken ill. Chris
  2. Sadly we have just updated the Missenden Railway Modellers website with the following devastating news: It is with great regret that we have to announce that Missenden Railway Modellers organiser and weathering tutor Mick Bonwick has died. We are sure all those who have attended our events at Missenden Abbey, met Mick at various model railways exhibitions or interacted with him via our virtual events will share in the sadness that his family and those involved with Mick feel at this time. All of our thoughts go out to his wife Ann and the rest of his family. Chris Hopper
  3. I think we may be confusing bag searches on entry and exit?
  4. I have bought the Scale Model Scenery ratchets laser cut ties so will report back....eventually..
  5. I got mine from my regular retailer and I've asked them if they can raise the issue with Heljan - I'm not seeking to send mine back TBH but think this is a clear case where replacement bodies may be justified. They do stand out in a line up of other DRS locos. Chris
  6. I have been though my two DRS loco books and put the photos next to the model and the blue on the model is certainly a little odd. I think Heljan needs to have a look at this...I've just bought sound etc for mine but may not fit it! Chris
  7. Sadly I completed the survey but they only want US responses based on ZIP codes
  8. I've just received my extremely well packaged copy courtesy of the Titfield Thunderbolt - thanks to Simon for the postcard with a personal message and a bookmark. Chris
  9. Whatever I use I tempted to glue one end and leave it for a few days to make sure it is secure before I do the other end
  10. Its all about levels of risk. I have sufficient cover on my home and contents package ( I sat down and worked everything out before having a sensible conversation with them) but a limit of £3k for garage - even though it is effectively as secure as the house it is an "out building". In addition don't keep anything boxed (as bought and therefore easier to sell) out there.
  11. Has anyone tried these? https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/ax031-oo-ratchet-straps-orange-pack-of-94-oo4mm176-1340-p.asp
  12. Its worse when it is stopped at Parkway for about 20 minutes on a hot day.....24 May this year
  13. You can never put a model bus too close to anything.....especially a parapet....
  14. 2x4 stored in the garage rafters...layout was Pixash Lane on a pre-show fettle.....oops...
  15. I think the RTP stuff wil be fine - don't be tempted by finescale laser cut stuff.....or etched brass....
