  1. Oops, while pre-ordering a pair of maroon siphon Gs, I seem to have also ordered an Earlstock Manor.
  2. While visiting the Heaton Lodge Junction 0 gauge layout yesterday I was delighted to find that Heljan had a stand there with lots of the new goodies on display in a big glass case. Highlight for me were a chance to chat with Ben for the first time in nearly two years and the test shot of the body for the original condition "slim Jim" class 33. I have to confess that the NER railcar is so utterly delightful that I may well get one anyway, even though I have no use for it on any of my or my friends layouts.
  3. Mine hasn't! I shall have to pre-order some of these. Excellent choice by the Accurascale posse from my perspective.
  4. I've done the survey and as somebody who models electric railways (SR 3rd rail) I was dissapointed in being forced to choose between steam and diesel, with no option to chose "electric". How to bias the results of a survey, lesson 1.
  5. They have tools for a 4CEP and that has the required running gear doesn't it?
  6. Replica MK1s and Bachmann Mk 1s don't match! The body profiles are different, as is the exagerated rib effect on the roof which is supposed to emulate the beads of weld. A "whole" 4EPB made from Replica's products looks well, but put them next to a Bachmann one and the differences are too obvious IMHO. That's why I haven't bought any Bachmann 2Hs and lengthened them with a Replica TSO. Maybe one of the 3D print gurus on here could produce centre coach bodyshells that match the Bachmann ones? Just a thought.
  7. I don't get it either! If they tooled a centre coach they could produce a 4EPB and a 3H "thumper". The existing 2H is of limited appeal being rare and used on only a few specific routes. A 3H would be a far bigger seller, as they got all all over the SR and even on to the WR and into Wales. Likewise, 4EPBs were far more numerous than 2EPBs.
  8. I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but as masters of the Nuclear Flask wagon, I'd really like Accurascale to do the original 12-wheeled Magnox flask wagons. The punters at an exhibition will never believe a flask carrier behind a kettle!
  9. I'm hoping that Father Christmas will bring me plenty of Bank of England Gift Vouchers from generous friends and relatives to cushion that blow.
  10. D6586 and D6591 now ordered from my local model shop (Grimy Times in Warrington). Now the worst part, the wait!
  11. Having just seen this weeks episode I have a new production suggestion for Hornby. Can we please have Simon's "blooper reel" on a DVD or download? Those outakes from the video were hillarious!
  12. Ivor ran in "the top left-hand corner of Wales" if I remember the programme intro correctly. The top left-hand corner of Wales was definitely LMS terratory.
  13. Yay! Original green Slim Jim. That'll do nicely. (On the assumption that it has the original type exhaust and isn't just a relivery).
  14. Newsletter No 10 has just been sent out. https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Happy-Birthday-to-us--Celebrate-with-a-birthday-bash-newsletter-crammed-full-of-fun-.html?soid=1101318906379&aid=Sax2Urkax4M Full of the usual interesting stuff, including this little snippet. "At the time of writing, we have five yet-to-be-announced wagons in tooling, four new locomotives at the design stage and two new buses that are coming together nicely." Let the frothing commence!
  15. Back in the days of great big CRT monitors on ones desk most folk in our big open plan office had a "mascot" on top of their monitor. I had a 1:72 scale Hurricane. 99% of visitors to my workstation who mentioned it referred to it as a Spitfire and were subsequently politely educated. The 1% who got it right received sincere congratulations on their perspicacity.
  16. IIRC the modus operandi was to replace the big ED (74) with a Crompton (33) at Bournemouth in the early years after electrification. In later years they just used a Crompton all the way from Waterloo!
  17. My suggestion would be that the lines on an old BR Inter-City map would those that are "Trunk Routes"? I'm not aware of any definitive map of rail trunk routes, unlike roads, where any road atlas will reveal the status of the road from the colour coding.
  18. June / July of what year?
  19. Without libling anybody, I think it would be more accurate to say that Network Rail's lack of control over its contractors and its escalating costs coupled to Failing Grayling's illconsidered reaction to this is what has, for the time being, led to the widespread perception that 25kV OHLE in unaffordable. DafT's imposition of 'bimode rollingstock solutions' on all recent major projects has substantially undermind the business case for further electrification and gap-filling on many routes.
  20. Hydrogen fueld units for the far north of Scotland huh? McHindenburgs? The problem with using the Adventra as the basis will no doubt be that'll it take longer to fix the software than build the trains?
  21. Is that Brunel's Improved Engine Green?
