  1. Truro on seven blood and custard mark 1's is actually accurate with 021 reporting numbers 25/5/58. You can even justify double heading with your King - 6015 (100 reporting no)/3440 and a mix of maroon and blood & custard mark 1's, 12/9/57.

I just realised that I know of a photo of Truro taken in 1957 at Snow Hill.I need to polish my buffers. ;)

A brownie point too for the loco class by the platform.

  3. Hatton advise the DCC fitted GWR version will be in stock 2nd December, I wonder what the next put back date will be on that model !!!!! :O

Thats strange as Simon Kohler told me they were in the country the weekend before last. :dontknow:

  4. This is really a nice atmospheric station entrance picture.

Thanks but I think Andy Y's photo is better from MI4 here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/58875-modelling-inspiration-4-out-now/

I wondered how long it would be before the 'girls' were mentioned.

  5. Talking of b&w photos I can't remember posting this shot on here before and I thought it might make for a 'whats being said in the conversation' type of RMweb competition for most witty repost.

Its of a returning airman talking to Issac Bishop, one of the station porters.

  6. One matter which seems to get lost amidst the atmosphere of the layout are fundamental elements of the layout. Geoff's trackwork is outstanding and it contributes to the perception of reality in every image showing a train. He's still working through the signalling but we can all see it's going to be worth the effort and Geoff's box of electricity and all the wiring are what makes the layout run at all when it gets set up.

The extended family have contributed much toward the atmosphere of the model and brought elements to it which may otherwise have never happened.

Flavio's pharmaceutical works, Stu's hoardings, Eric's shunters' cabin, Dave Franks' buffer stops, Arthur's lorries and Paul's collection of seventies motors help set the tone.

    attachicon.gifDetail4s.jpg

Paul's chippy and vehicles to the fore again.

    attachicon.gifDetail3s.jpg

    Flavio's engineering works office.

    attachicon.gifDetail7s.jpg

Stu's contibution to urban dereliction and squalour.

Jason's barn with Tim's Cortina after Paul's had his evil ways with it.

Meanwhile one of the characters in the Story of the Blues indifferently grazes.

Thanks guys; you really have helped give the layout a bit of individuality.

The thing that strikes me most is the excellent scenics that have a nice colour, depth and richness helped by the use of quality materials.First class.

Mike, I have both of those workings in photos in the book steam on the South Devon banks by David Fish.If I take my photos in b& w you won't know the coaches are choc/cream.Sorted.

  8. A final few of Mallard60022's Wills kit built King 6015 as we see her leaving the fiddle yard onto my embankment and beyond.Plenty of anomalies on show but I like the combination and the blood and custard livery is growing on me.Next weekend we might see City of Truro pulling some BR mark ones in blue and white livery ! Its not just the preserved lines who can run what they like you know. ;)
