  1. As its quiet on here at the moment I've had a few 'friends' around to study my signalling diagram although none of us could make head or tail of it and so we decided to have some appropriate lunch from Mr Aulds corner stores instead....... Captions please.
  2. Maybe but that price has just justified what I said about vfm.A new tooling Bachmann prairie is £65.I will need a 51xx for banking duties though but the new Stars will take my pennies this year.
  3. I'd thought as much.A model that's been around since the late 70s that only ever had two Great Western liveries.Poor show. http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/750_1_2100278.html £89.00
  4. Having seen the engineering shots in April I thought they [Bachmann] were close to release. http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/details.php?id=106&vis=2
  5. It was in the Railway Modeller last year.If you read through this thread you'll find which issue it was as I can't remember.
  6. A nice O gauge NA version on ebay here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-Gauge-GWR-Shunters-Truck-/271222509950?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f261f117e No connection with seller.
  7. Have Hornby ever released the large prairie in post war G W R livery anyone ? Here's 5164 taken at Kidderminster last year.
  8. Although I don't know the absolute prices, its that which bugs me most about both these models as I don't think they offer value for money.Having said that it has been shown by Westerner and Barry Ten they can be made better.Potential purchases by me will wait as I have four other loco purchases before I add these. That Royal Mail King edition was originally £140 I think. Checking the numbers of the ones mainly used for banking at NA shews mainly 51xx series locos used.
  9. So Pinocchio is alive and well and living in SW Leics then. Absolutely correct.Another long in the tooth offering from Hornby that was first released by Airfix when I was still at school.I don't have one but had forgot there were a few at NA late 40s.
  10. Nothing better than the good old English Channel. Don't I wish.My sea is utter c**p and needs redoing.Desperately.Don't be fooled by Andy Y's photo in MI4.The sea was a lot of photoshop especially to make it shine !
  11. Thats something my late father would have said CK .He was a traditionalist when it came to GWR engines.Good for tourists who know no better.
  12. I was thinking how nice it would be if the P & D commissioned Bachmann to release 'Warrior' as a special edition.I know the SVR did something with a Manor so its possible.Hornby would need to do 'Hercules' and 'Goliath' though.I'd buy them for the happy holiday memories in the area still to this day.
  13. There's no layout photos while I'm redoing the backscene and corner unless you want some of course but I've had chance to line out my Bachmann 45xx and renumber to 4555.Doesn't she look nice and quite realistic in the sun......
  14. Have you seen these photos of your beloved BWTs here http://railway-photography.smugmug.com/SRSteam/LSWR-0298-Class-Beattie-Well/29932255_TpZ5hL#!i=2569265327&k=PtcxfmG&lb=1&s=L
  15. Its got to be that lovely 64xx tank surely. Its probably one of these though http://www.lionhearttrains.com/modeldetails.php?page=models&mid=2
  16. Its been waiting years to be fixed but I doubt it will ever be done.I wonder how many of those Wills barns are on layouts up and down the country.
  17. I think its a typo Chris.Being Southern it should be Hellandback.
  18. The evening sun sets in the South Hams as a lonely spotter catches his Castle on an express to the West. The sun has also set on the faded backscene as its no more.
  19. I've just ripped off the faded backscene. It came away quite easily probably because I used spraymount to fix it instead of wallpaper paste on the newer types. Its been up a few years though.I'm tempted to use lining paper first before adding the new one.Any suggestions. I'm going to need some better seamoss trees as the ones I planned on reusing are very brittle.Who's idea was doing this anyway.
  20. Old faded backscene ripped up.New one on order. What did I do with that lining paper left over from decorating...
