  9. Why do it? I think people see some of the locos on the RHTT trains eg. this https://www.flickr.com/photos/46341292@N05/5210121256/ and think that everything in the past ran round in the same condition. I've been through all of my photos from the 80's and 90's and haven't one in that condition the nearest you get is the shunters and perhaps class 20's where the wash doesn't hit the sides. This is the worst I can find in my collection of over 500 photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/northbriton/10540198163/ and even then the 47's either side are relatively clean.

  15. Could the parts of the layout that you mention not be used by the RMWeb community in a Black Country Blues type layout or something similar with as someone else suggested a communal donation to the charity. For example could the boards possibly be used as a centre piece for the modular group that is just getting off the ground where anyone and everyone would be able to create their own module which could attach to Daves masterpiece? I didn't know Dave at all apart from through the pictures in magazines so not sure if this would appeal to him or not and I'm not sure how big they are to fit in with the module principal or whether all of this would appeal to the community but I'm sure other options of this type could be explored to keep them within the community rather than the parts of the layout going to one home where they may never be seen again. Just some thoughts. Steve
