  1. Mines being run in this afternoon on my test circle of set track...no layout yet. As with my other new locos it gets 15 mins both ways then I turn the loco around and 15 mins both ways again. So far smooth and quiet. The lights look very good too....very period not too bright and they have a good warm glow not bright white. Pity no cab or corridor lighting but it should be easy to wire some in (and fit a driver too) and the 21 pin dcc will allow control..... The one sticking sprung buffer is now free and afyer having dropped some peco lube in from both sides......
  2. Crazy to think coaches are now the sort of prices you could once get a loco for. But i do hope we see another run of blue and grey TSO mk2f coaches. I need 4 to complete a typical uniform early 80s wcml load 12 rake.
  3. I wonder though if the stock levels being low is more an indication that numbers are limited rather than the masses sctually buying.
  4. £250 dcc sound fitted with all those innovative bells and whistles......staggeringly good value for a big 6 axle loco in todays market
  5. also look out in the co-op for cheap coin cell battery operated warm white LEDS strung together on 2m long wires. these are fabulous and cheap. these will be going along theyre labelled up as "bottle lights" ideal for my planned 1980s euston platforms build.
  6. Cant see Legacy in the suppiers list so hope this is okay here. Thinking of buying some of tjis newly released flexi track with wooden sleepers. Is the legacy track okay to use with peco code 75 and rail joiners???
  7. At a fraction of what Bachmann would want. I think accuras sound fittedxis less than £250 on new tooling and extra features.....
  8. very surprised there are no matching Mk2f coaches to go with the Anglia DBSO......they were "f"s werent they on the Great Eastern? also what were the GEML catering vehicles in that era? MK1 RBR or a converted Mk2f Mini Buffet RFB?
  9. Mine arrived today 86404....was deceived by its size depicted on the box versus the actual model! Anyway it looks great but one of the buffers is tight. Might apply some oil see if that frees it off but its in the pushed in position and sticking if you pull it out then back in. Also I might look at painting inside the corridor area to a more suitable light grey if i dont return it. Depends if there is an actual recess inside. Need to test it runs first. The pan looks superb. Shame no cab lights?
  10. Ps. I asked when they expecyed the new 87s from Hornby to arrive 87006 and 87009.......Winter 2022! I wont be impressed if H slap another 10 or 20% on those.....
  11. Well i spoke to Kernow today lovely guy answered and had to explain my 86404 was in the warehouse but the price has had to go up to £178 from £162........heyho. 86 on the way.
  12. i think its focuses the mindset more - in previous years you could just splash out on models whenever the fancy took you but now i think more people will batten the hatches down and very carefully think about purchases before giving the credit card details oover. it coud be argued that we were in a period perhaps of modelling "excess"? i dont mind now if i need to hold back more and think more before making a purchase. scary to think that if we continue to see 20% increases on dcc ready locos from Hornby say from the above example at the now £218 rrp you could be looking at more than £300 for a loco in 2 years time. remember thats dcc ready only no decoder no sound.
  13. Good photos at davidson parkway - will a review follow on the tube? yes i would like a rainhill version too - how long did the two locos carry that livery for after the celebrations?
  14. Yeah it quickly adds up to big numbers. Ive got 2 x 87s at £365 1 x accura 37 at £239 plus the Heljan 86 at £165. £769 - gulp.....
  15. Yes very hard to grasp their thinking. I was a bit surprised by the re release of the executive RBR which i make out to the 3rd version now.......coaching stock needs more joined up thinking.
  16. copper contacts on the body are likely to be for the cab interior lights. on DCC none of the lights will work unless you tell them to come on via the controller. or you can use switches underneath if they are present on DC.
  17. so the new 86s are expected this week. My order is with Kernow anf from the photos I am really looking forward to getting the exceutive 86/4. Hoping its just got the originl MU jumpers on the front which I tihnk it has and not the later RCH cables. Presumably they will re-debit my card and just dispatch it when its ready or do I have to ring them to progress the order? Never ordered before with KMRC. Also do these newer released come with cab interior lights?
  18. Ive had this for months and only now decided to try and get rid of the pop up that keeps showing up on the right hand side of the screen. I click on the X to close the player but it just pops up again within seconds. Whereabouts can i stop this in settings or am I stuck with this unless I upgrade my RMweb membership? the ads are such a pain.
  19. Hornby cant go around calling a single wagon "a pack" for heavens sake.... Glad the Mk3 slsm door got a retool which i wishlisted rather than predicted this year and equally glad they havent announced executive or blue/grey loco hauled versions yet.....it gives me ample time to ssve......having said that I am seeing and feeling the draw towards O gauge now given the prices of 00 and where they heading but am out of touch with 0 gauge price increases of late....are they also seeing big hikes???
  20. What....just for this? Well anyway, enjoy your day and hopefully you wont be reporting back to say "nothing in it for me".... lol.
  21. To be honest if your out of work or retired or such like then no doubt youll be sat there at 7, 8 or 10am or whatever time its meant to all kick off but I suspect many of us have jobs we have to do tomorrow so in a way its good. Leave the big AM excitement to those who will be glued to the website for the launch and by the time me and my employed brothers have done their days work can drop in and thumb through everything over a leisurely nightcap without the slow drip feed or potential of a constantly crashing website......
  22. I dont like Oxfords Mk3. The fauts are well documented in the OR thread. I have always felt Lima then latterly Hornbys model was the better looking and over the yrars its turned into a very nice version better couplings tinted glazing better wheels etc......now they have the SD version I wonder if they tooled that up to allow for a non HST slam door version ? Be good to see these in a run of blue n grey and executive. Plus some versions had the silver window frames unlike the horrible bodge Oxford did on theirs to print it on the actual glazing as a poor looking after thought.
  23. Intercity executive 125 and matching stock as a relivery. The Mk3s could double up for loco hauled too.
  24. Wonder if Hornby will go down the deluxe route with some models same as Bachmann.....
