  1. Hornby will miss out on a trick if they dont offer their Mk2fs with the same type of Lighting system as on their Coronatio scot stock. not dcc but rail powered but they are very effective and when they retail at around £55-60 they would shift loads of Mk2fs imho if they fitted them with good lighting throughout (not like the old versions that just had 3 LEDs in the middle. Bear in mind Bachmann dont look like they are far off now asking for £100 a coach for dcc fitted. nice to have full control of lights but for coaches I think they are either on or off. a tail light if required is easily added with some modelling.....
  2. maybe they will release one in the 2022 program?
  3. yes moan and i could about the price of the dcc ones no doubt about it you just dont see any blue and grey or executive TSOs for sale now.......theyve all gone. just apity that if or when Bachmann come around to a release of either of these liveries the RRP could well be breaking the £100 figure. ouch. its does seriously raise the question how can accurascale do the new mk2s with lights for £59 a positive bargain.
  4. is this going to be a regular catalogue model or once the initial models have sold thats ya lot ? id like one a 7 car set but cant afford the £530 right now.
  5. was anything mentioned about the tooling allowing for easy EM and P4 conversion?
  6. does anybody know if the latest batch are tooled up to have cab lights? hattons detail states they do but thought these were not featured until the next batch?
  7. good to at least have the update so we know whats happening......
  8. will Carstairs see the exhibition circuit again ? Lots of new electric traction and coaching stock has along since it was built......
  9. does anybody know if the next release inc 86404 executive livery will have independent cab interior lights? i understand heljans plan was better circuitry on later versions....
  10. have i missed something. a 5 car set rrp is around £395 and 7 car around £495 and 2 car trailer packs £89. why would buy the 7 car when i could but the 5 car and 2 car packs and save at least a tenner? cache of a boxed 7 car set?
  11. Ive gone to Kernow now.....bit of a pain that they take the cash now though.
  12. yes my class 87 orders both cancelled today and i got in within days of them going on the website ......whats going on?
  13. may as well......."whilst he's at it" LOL.
  14. i tell you what i think....some bright spark at WN was playing games with the black paint. i suggest they did paint the doors on the one side but not on the other.........the photo with pantograph leading (the side with the extra windows) really does very clearly like the doors are black whereas photos of the other side ....not sa much.
  15. I'm wondering why they never (to date) followed the 85 up with the 81......very similar.
  16. I look forward to reading your first impressions when it arrives.......
  17. Youre way too late to the party now to be finding fault.........any concerns should have been raised a long time back with the development of this model. I noticed a few things not quite right with Hornby's forthcoming Class 87 "87006" City of Glasgow albeit it was only being shown as a pre-production sample image but I got my feedback into Simon Kohler before final artwork was due to be signed off for this version.
  18. does anybody know if the executive 86/4 release will feature the upgraded lighting with cab interior lights which i understand this first batch of 86/0's is not getting?
  19. has a photo been released of a painted sample 86/4 in executive livery?
  20. take my money for 86 235........i am off to nick some car radios to cover it.....
  21. Having done quite a bit of searching around looking at various images I have written to Simon Kohler with some observations about the artwork on 87 006. I'm no expert but hopefully what I have provided for him and the team will assist in getting a more accurate model on the shelves come November. If people are interested; the main points raised are the positioning of the nameplate, the positioning of the large BR double arrow logo, the dampers should be grey not blue and the orange overhead warning stripe only runs along the main bodyside. I do know that the final artwork has not yet been signed off so there is time for tweaks as required.
  22. well on that evidence i thought I would check to see if maybe just maybe the Willesden lads had deliberately opted to painted the cab doors black just on one side. I dont have permission yet to share one particular picture with the loco sat on the blocks at Manchester Piccadilly in gleaming condition clearly with black cab doors so this is a bt of journey of fact finding......does the slightest bit of weathering really disguise the black that well? very tricky.......surely they didnt get black at first then get repainted dark grey?..........i dug out an old book with full colour images last night and unfortunately it only really shows the cab front not the sides.
  23. OK now i have seen some clean photos of 87006 it does seem that the cab doors were indeed black. question that not so clear is whether the door frame itself was also black - photos i have seen are difficult to interpret on this due to angles and light etc and I am wondering whether the frame was the same dark grey as the bodysides or maybe the grey only covered the door step area not the frame........any takers? I hope Hornby model the correct cab front equipment on this as we have no images yet..... Orange cant rail stripe does not run around the cabs.....
  24. seems many here know what a commonwealth bogie looks like but i've often wondered how the name came about given that most others are a mix of letters and numbers like BT10 or B4.
