Photo's Of East Yorkshire Railways
billywhizz replied to Market65's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
The crossing equipment has a very continental look to it. I’ve never seen a swiveling stop sign before. Every day is a school day! thanks again Rob for taking the time to find and share the pictures with us. Cheers Bill. -
I did try and justify a trip to Newbury but everything has conspired against me. I’m sure we will catch up at some point. What are the 3 shows you are going to in the first half of next year?

Congratulations Ian. The article and photos look great. Really do the layout justice. Always enjoy the updates on Tidworth and Exford Park 2. Hopefully I will get to see Tidworth at a show some time soon. Cheers, Bill.

Track cleaning
billywhizz replied to Peter Kazmierczak's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
There is an interesting video on YouTube presented by an Australian and UK Modeller discussing polar and non polar chemicals and the causes of dirt build up on the rail head. I can’t for the life of me find the video now but it has been posted on other track cleaning threads. I personally use a square of hardboard wetted with lighter fluid. WD40 contact cleaner also comes highly recommended. Don’t use standard WD40. I gave up using track rubbers years ago as they leave a residue on rail head (and bits on the ballast) Regards Bill. -
Class 37, by Accurascale
billywhizz replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Thanks for the update Fran. working in an industry where the the shortage of semi conductors is still causing havoc with production schedules and customer order delivery times, I can completely understand your frustrations and what you are working against. At least there is now something to look forward to in what I normally class as the most depressing month of the year!! More time to save up for a couple of extra sound chips for the non DCC 37’s on order and maybe an extra loco! Regards. Bill. -

I suspect Fran has spent the morning closely watching a ship tracker app, to see if the ship has left China before posting they are on the way!!😂 Bill. -

I can confirm, having gone to school in Patrington (and Withernsea) the meridian line was to the east of the village (straight down the middle of the village playing field) The station was to the west of the village. I can remember the school lesson we had on that playing field about the meridian line like it was yesterday. Weird what specific lessons you remember from primary school 40 years ago but cannot remember what we had for dinner last night!!! The self contained line at Spurn was a military railway used to supply the fortifications along the point with no stations (School trip remembered like it was yesterday) Regards. Bill -
I’ve always used matt varnish for fitting nameplates. There is a risk with superglue either accidentally getting onto the body side or seeping out from under the plate when offered up the the body side. Matt varnish also gives some time to check and correct final positioning if required. Regards. Bill.

James Makin's Workbench - 1990s dirty diesels & grotty wagons
billywhizz replied to James Makin's topic in Layout topics
Hi James. thanks for sharing another great weathering article. Out of interest, on the Bachmann VBA etc do you doing anything with the swiveling axle units on your wagons to improve running? Regards, Bill. -
AFAIK they have never done a blue 47/7 Hoping for one in the future as well preferably a flush front example which which would give more number options for LLB and ScotRail liveried models. Bill.

Just looking at the Elite UK Forces website, for info, the WMIK was first introduced in 1999 Regards, Bill.

Another recommendation for the Bachmann spares service. Currently “reverse engineering” my fleet of Bachmann 47’s and DBSO’s back from P4 to OO. Easy to use website, have been able to get everything required and delivery very quick. Cheers. Bill.

Hi, do we know when invoices are likely to be sent out for those orders with outstanding amounts for Class 37 batch 1 orders? Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Bill. -
Can only really echo what others before have said. Great show. Huge well done to the organising team! Good variety of layouts and traders. Also great to catch up with friends, some of whom I’ve not seen since before COVID. A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to seeing how the show develops in the new hall over the next couple of years. Cheers. Bill.

THE SDEG - Scotland's Diesel Fleet in Detail; Volume 2 - The Class 47/4s
billywhizz replied to 158722's topic in Books
Good news on the 47/7 book. It has been added to Christmas list to go with the class 26 and 47/4 books already on the shelf. These really are and excellent series and looking forward to the class 37 editions next year? -
Looking great Will! Have hit the “Follow” button and looking forward to further updates. Interesting to see how you have gone about the lighting. I may have to look into this for my future project. Cheers. Bill.

Hi David. I have seen photos on the internet of Deltic 16 being released from its stock after arrival at GQS which I think was around 1977/ 1978. Unfortunately I can’t find the link at the moment but will keep searching. Regards. Bill.
