Can't agree with your opinion of First Great Western, I'm afraid, I know a lot of people in the company, at all levels, and pretty much most of them are dedicated to the job.

Same here Captain I know a lot of staff from different TOC/FOC's again at all levels and the majority are well and truely dedicated to the job.

  4. HOW MUCH! Well if anythings going spare, mainly some shunters DCC fitted... I suppose it's easier to sneak stuff back if you're both in the hobby

Swifty11, I have to agree with you about the ringfield motors, I bought a Hornby 1980's d49 on eBay, and when I received it it was the worst runner in history. But I recently took it all apart and cleaned the contacts, solder joins and the copper rings, now when I run it, there is a huge improvement, but still a tiny bit jerky during the start. But once you get it running then you wouldn't be able to tell them apart from other Hornby locos.

Just one other thing I forgot to mention, you say that your Hornby 67 draws loads of power from the track. My cure for that is to use the brilliant H&M duette controller for all my old locos. You can change how much power you want to go to the track . I really should stop talking shouldn't I.

I'm hoping to get a 4f for my birthday next month and I'll find one somwhere! My 67 and 92 squadron are incredibly smooth. My flying scotsman and peregrine are train set models and still run like a dream. My 57, 4mt and ivatt (all Bachmann) are good runners but aren't quite as smooth as the Hornby ones.

  10. It'd be good to have anything unusual workings posted on here, including things like the stone trains etc. Thanks
  11. Great photos, hopefully I'll be seeing my first skip on the 30th at York, or would something else bring in the train from Bristol-York
  12. Neither can I, perfect for my layout. Hopefully it'll have tender connections.
  13. It's £11.50 now! Seriously, is that all you need to make money on ebay, some old Hornby coaches, a 60w soldering iron and a good old easy to do lick of orange paint 'for weathering' I'm in buisness!
  14. Yep, I'm going up to York on the 30th and apart from the two A4s, there's nothing else good about. do like the HST's and class 91's but I prefer seeing them at high speed elsewhere
