  1. If only I could get one now..... Stewart
  2. And those shots would be one of those special occasions where Andy Y's smoke effects could only improve things? Stewart
  3. Some of you might consider this posting (rather long but stay with me...) off-topic, but here goes. Whilst in Kings Lynn today, I popped into the station, as I'd heard the refubished 365 was stabled there for the weekend. Not relevant here, but I'll post it anyway. Now to the relevant pics. Outside the station I noticed plenty of these lamps. New installs of retro design LED lamps, but tasteful. My attention was then taken by a small notice stuck on a hoarding. I had a double take at this one!. And there were more..... Then round to the main entrance at the front. Though closed, due to the ongoing refurbishment works, I noticed the canopy behind the scaffolding. Look closely at this cropped and heavily Photoshop adjusted picture. Apologies for the quality of pics btw, all taken on my smartphone Inside the station I found this poster board. I've also taken a closeup of the LHS, you don't see many FCC notices headed British Railways! Another one outside This one is really something different. And just to finish off - the whole station has been resigned with these totems.
  4. I don't think anyone has highlighted it on here yet, but the Shakespeare set apparently contains an open-top bus. This was mentioned on one of the yahoo bus groups that I am in as possibly being a tie in with EFE, maybe their open-top Bristol/ECW VR casting? Stewart
  5. Can't be a model Clive, the 31 isn't festooned with over-bright led's. Stewart
  6. 20227 at Bedford? I remember it being parked there for ages prior to preservation. Stewart
  7. And a royal train headcode too. Also that BR emblem looks too big.... Stewart
  8. Wasn't the duck then, found a quack in one of the wheels....? Stewart
  9. Used to be able to buy it in (slightly more) bulk sizes from DIY stores, used to lay in a tray at the bottom of house windows to supposedly catch the condensation off the glass. No I have decent double glazed windows, I've had no need to look for it, but it may still be around. Stewart
  10. And Blackpool & Fleetwood. Stewart
  11. The brake hoses hanging down also have support brackets to fit behind them. Stewart
  12. Better still, it should be an ex GER 2-4-0, LNER class E4. Stewart
  13. I think it was Dudley Dimmock that originally had a shop in Biggleswade? I remember going there around /60-/62-ish. He then moved to KGX, before I left school in 1964. We sometimes did trainspotting trips to London, calling at the shop. I would guess it would be around /62-/63? Stewart
  14. I popped in there yesterday so yes, he is still open. Stewart
  15. My HD example was built by me from spare parts, but is basically as supplied by HD. Though the body was stripped to bare metal before brush painting, and Flushglaze added. Looks good actually. However I've just got a D5700 for £84 (!) from Hattons, so will be looking to sell it on. Stewart
  16. Wrong headcode on the loco though! Stewart
  17. Make a change from the 321 & 317, or even 365, that we now have....... Stewart
  18. I do like the sensible way you describe it as 'my trainset' - I love doing that to upset the more serious modellers. Stewart
  19. Bet they are skinny dipping at that time of night? Stewart
  20. Cutting aid for plastic sheet Not my own design, but blatantly copied from an Ian Rice design in one of his plastic modelling books. Basically a very old gadget, recently refurbished. The original wooden (blockboard) base was covered with a piece of MDF, to which a new cutting mat was stuck/pinned. The original 12" steel rules were reused, note the 2 notches filed in the RH one to allow the knife blade to go further along. The rules were set to 90 degees with a set square before tightening the fixing screws. Penny washers are used under the rules to give clearance for the mat, and to allow the plastic sheet to pass under the horizontal rule. A Wills plastic sheet is shown in position ready to be cut. In use, it is very easy to cut - accurately - even thick plastic sheet (such as Wills) with a craft knife (I prefer XActo), using light scoring along the horizontal rule edge. Stewart
  21. Probably been wheel clamped, and can't afford the release fee. Stewart
  22. Even if they did the froth being generated would put it out. Stewart
  23. I'm a tad worried about that Eastern Counties lowbridge Leyland on the bridge there, they were Norfolk based beasts, route 37 too! Now if it was a 7'6" LKH highbridge Bristol, it would be more appropriate... http://www.modelbuszone.co.uk/tmb/images_model_kits/BUSKIT13A.JPG sadly is I believe sold out but would have been perfect. Not sure if that link works but here is the picture Stewart
  24. The 08-09 family are 0-6-0DE locos. Stewart
