  1. Sorry, but this is market forces in action. Hornby are not the only supplying manufacturer to be doing this. You only have to look at Bachmann and their "Surprise" release of a reworked Class 37 to the market before Accurascale.
  2. I didn't say I was buying one. It was more an informative post for others on RMweb, should a new HD Flying Scotsman locomotive be of interest.
  3. Agree in principle with your comments as to the main range 4472 not being highly collectible. I've just purchased two newly tooled A3's Lemberg and FS at a considerable discount within 6 months of release. Could this happen with the newly released 9f a few months down the line? It may transpire that these new offerings within the HD range and limited to 500 models, buck the trend and sell out quickly because of deliberate marketing/hype, targeting the collector on the part of Hornby. In the current financial climate who knows!
  4. HD locos are usually strictly limited to a 500 model run. I would have thought that the Flying Scotsman Centenary Year models won't be any different in the numbers produced and offered for sale.
  5. On recent Hornby form, it's a wonder they haven't made these website only purchases.
  6. This may hopefully assist you Ian. Photographs of both loco and tender recently posted on the ROS website:- https://railsofsheffield.com/products/Bachmann-32-510-br-standard-class-5mt-no-73118-king-leodegrance-br-lined-black-early-emblem
  7. Somewhat ironic for the new RRP that the new HD models still feature an 8 pin DCC set up rather than the new 21 pin arrangement. Additionally, it doesn't appear to to have glowing firebox feature, which is a nice touch on recent releases.
  8. Agreed, I've just purchased the newly tooled BR early crest version from Hobbyshop in Faversham for £160. A superb model in all respects for the money!
  9. Just had the following email from Hornby announcing a plethora of Flying Scotsman variants for release in Spring 2023 :- https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/flying-scotsman-centenary
  10. Having just purchased the latest tooling 1950's version in BR green, with early crest R3991, I can thoroughly recommend this loco.
  11. That would make perfect sense as the retooled F/S A3 with S+S and the 21 pin decoder is due shortly.
  12. Likewise, I was really looking forward to getting hold of this model. Makes you wonder if this also applies to the 20t tankers they announced a couple of years back?
  13. I must admit I'm rather looking forward to receiving Erlestoke Manor. Hopefully, another Steam Locomotive is in the pipeline and will be announced soon.
  14. The September edition of the Engine Shed is now available to view, featuring articles on Lion and Evening Star. https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/head-pride
  15. Typical market volatility unfortunately, which is precisely how the exchange mechanisms and markets work. Government monetary policy aside, I can't help thinking that much of this is down to traders shorting currencies and the media whipping up yet another crisis.
  16. The problem was with the motor not the set up. Some S15's were fine, others weren't! In any case, if the motors are found to be inadequate/defective I'm sure purchasers will be be returning these locos to Hornby for replacement within the 12 month guarantee period. Sorry, but you appear to have a bit of a downer on Hornby!
  17. The pound sterling is not really the problem, it is fundamentally the current strength of the dollar. Coupled with the fact that the US currency is the global reserve of choice for trading of commodities including oil and gas. You only have to look at global exchange rates to see that this is the case. Markets are frequently volatile I'm afraid.
  18. The V2 has visited the NYMR from recollection. Otherwise, Rule 1 applies! 😊
  19. Agreed, Personally speaking, I'm not sure that this is the ultimate 9f model as hailed by Hornby, It does however have some nice bells/whistles, paintwork and finish. If you look closely at recently released models such as the retooled A3, prices are actually dropping quicker than the norm. This in all probability is due to the current financial situation of people having less cash to spend on non essentials such as hobbies. The problem for these new releases is that a decent model of these locomotives already exists. For example, I've just bought Lemberg in LNER black livery for £125 (RRP £252.99) from a main dealer.
  20. No, BRM magazine which has no links to Hornby.
  21. Yes, originally part of the World of Railways (BRM) update.
  22. Excellent review on the Hornby 9F by BRM. https://youtu.be/PZjYRxsMIuY
  23. How Sam comes up with his conclusions is beyond me, I'm increasingly surprised he hasn't faced legal action by various manufacturers. For me, the Neville Grove layout running video is a good indication of what the new Hornby 9f is capable of, rather than listening to his pointless and inane drivel, which has little factual basis.
