  1. Stephen, Looking back through the thread I have now seen your post, with me tagged 'commanding' a response, I was away from the forum at that time overseas on vacation for a couple of weeks and so sorry I missed it. Archive information on a wagon by basis of build dates and brake type fitted when new and or later amended is not readily available. The tooling suite does not include the Panter brake, as you say it is not very compatible with tension lock couplings and also its limited timescale of use. When the version matrix was created for the earlier 0 Gauge model one of the reference images of 11111 with a steel underframe that we had and following discussions with a renown 3rd party was interpreted as being with Morton brakes fitted and this followed on to the 00 version.
  2. They are Bulleid-Firth-Brown wheels but of the smaller 3'7" design that was different to the 5'1" driving wheel version as fitted to the Leader.
  3. Ultrascale wheelsets, as per the KMRC Bulleid Diesels, will drop in utilising the bearings and gears off the 00 axles.
  4. Yes indeed Firth-Brown's Atlas Steel Works, Sheffield.
  5. Yes and at what cost to the business...
  6. They are designed as a push fit and if needed pushing out from the inside with the tip of a small screwdriver should work. When replacing note that the side sides are handed with a sloping underside to take account of the shape of the cab front at the sides.
  7. OS Nock was indeed incorrect, the actual manufacturers General Steel Corporation of Granite City, Illinois called them “Boxpok”.
  8. They are not Box-pox [sic] or 'Boxpok' wheels as they are Bulleid-Firth-Brown wheels that are a slightly different improved and patented design and easier to manufacture that Boxpok, see my explanation here https://www.35011gsn.co.uk/Technical and Education Centre/how-it-works/bfb-wheels-and-tyres.html
  9. Yes, trying to buck the current trend, production quantities have included for ongoing stock not to just fulfil pre-orders / closed order books.
  10. Please remember we have literally 1000s to dispatch, and will generally be done in 'date paid for' order, this means some customers will receive theirs before others...and some will receive theirs after those some, but before others.. As already stated the sound fitted versions are being fitted and tested within the KMRC own top secret workshop (located just along the A30 protected by impenetrable road works that have been going on almost as long as the railmotor project) so will take a little longer to prepare and dispatch. But be rest assured all will be dispatched in due course, so please be patient and resist the testation to call, post on forums, fax, electronic mail or send pigeons asking 'where mine is..' Thank you.
  11. I'm sure Hornby will be taking such constructive feedback into account.
  12. It's official folks no Warley National Model Railway Show at the NEC this year or for the foreseeable future.
  13. Indeed, I have spoken with Hornby and this is being corrected to be lined crimson.
  14. I would suggest checking the wheel back to backs in case one might be slightly out?
  15. Side play on the centre axle alone was not enough for R2 curves.
  16. The bogies are a surprisingly long wheelbase and yes the sideplay is necessary to allow for model curves.
  17. It's still available https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/74184/R3983SS-Hornby-LNER-P2-2007-Prince-of-Wales-Steam-Generator and still on the current Hornby 2024 order form to retailers.
  18. I in fact state "No SR/BR(s) new tooling announced today, nor even any new SR/BR(s) new liveries on existing tooling!"
  19. The information provided in advance was contradictory between images and short descriptions, the latter appear to have been incorrect.
  20. See here :) https://southern-railway.com/2024/01/09/Hornby-announce-part-of-the-their-2024-range-southern-modelers-can-relax/
  21. Yes you are being very pessimistic... and a bit of a knee jerk reaction. Other retailers are doing just fine, no need to set the hares running...
  22. John, There should be ample room for a HM7000. You will need to pull out the buffer shanks (not really 'wrench') and remove the body fixing screws to remove the body to fit the decoder atop of the PCB. PS I am glad you like the model as it has been my baby so to speak.
  23. I have corrected the date to be 21/08/1950 (I should have checked my notes rather than off the top of my head), This was first of three test runs in August and five more in September of that year running Eastleigh - Woking - Guildford and return with loads starting at 231 tons and culminating in one run at 430 tons. The last intended run was 02/11/1950 to also be to Guildford and return but was terminated at Basingstoke and the loco returned to Eastleigh light engine.
  24. And before anyone gets on the usual high horse of blaming the Americans for the term 'Train Station' the first recorded use of the term was in the fact within the Times newspaper in 1876!
