  1. a *Reminder* London Calling... This Sunday, The Model Railway Club’s open day / mini exhibition at their London Keen House club rooms. More details here https://southern-railway.com/2023/11/22/london-calling-canute-road-quay-to-appear-at-the-model-railway-clubs-10th-december-mini-exhibition/
  2. Just to correct the record and some misconceptions... EFE Rail is not an "arm's length company" but simply a brand with Bachman Europe's portfolio. It is a channel for the distribution of products designed, produced and managed through 3rd parties and not in house and via Kader. As such it may utilise existing 3rd party tooling (by the way, and again to put the record straight, the KMRC Adams O2 and Gate stock did not sink "without trace after the initial production" as they had already had multiple production runs under the KMRC brand) or new tooling as we have already seen with the LSWR Cross Country sets, LSWR Covered vans and the SR Boosters. Whilst some of the releases have utilised tooling still owned by factories from now defunct business, in the case of the 14xx this tooling is as already stated in previous posts owned by Hattons and therefore it is their decision on any future use.
  3. Head code and or head signal lamps, as applicable are switchable all on / all off via DCC. Alternative headcode stencils or blinds for user fitting (from within the body) or a set of open or closed discs (fitted from the outside), as appropriate, are provided.
  4. You still can order one, our production allows for plenty of stock not just meeting pre-orders...
  5. I'm trying to do 4326 for Canute Road Quay, and have the Model Rail 1968 already stripped of her numbers, but have yet to find suitable number decals for it, I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions?
  6. London Calling Canute Road Quay will be making another appearance at The Model Railway Club’s open day / mini exhibition being held on Sunday 10th December at their London Keen House club rooms. More details here https://southern-railway.com/2023/11/22/london-calling-canute-road-quay-to-appear-at-the-model-railway-clubs-10th-december-mini-exhibition/
  7. I was told by John Click, who worked on the Leader alongside Bulleid , that having three cylinders per bogie that it was a very soft 3 +3 exhaust beat (even softer than a Bulleid pacific) and that at 60 to 70 mph on test the 'chuff' was almost inaudible above the mechanical running sounds.
  8. The BR(s) green BCK and BTK make up a correct and complete 2 coach set. Obviously there will likely be a further production run in the future with other livery variations, as with all these things be patient, in the mean time there is a nice 5 coach set in Crimson lake and Cream that can legitimately be run alongside the BR(s) green set.
  9. Not quite Brighton but 73774 was used on the Exchange Trials freight runs between Eastleigh and Bristol via Salisbury in May/June 1948.
  10. The Southern Electric lettered boards above the cab windows were only carried by CC2 until 1948 hence correctly not on the EFE versions.
  11. Thanks to all the team responsible for the show, had a very enjoyable time with Canute Road Quay in the company of, as always at this exhibition, a great range high quality modelling on show in all the other layouts.
  12. Thank you to all whom dropped by Canute Road Quay and said hello at this weekends Tolworth Showtrain exhibition. It was a very enjoyable show.
  13. Don't worry some of us have researched and know what the shade of Ultramarine blue was, and have had it also confirmed from a number of different contemporary sources and witnesses.
  14. Canute Road Quay and the South Western Circle stand is all set up at the Tolworth Showtrain this weekend. An appropriate visiting engine is also on Display #Remembance
  15. The green roof as applied to CC1 and CC2 was also lined with yellow perpendicular lines.
  16. *cough* "Engine Head Signal" discs...
  17. Both CC1 and CC2 ran for a while between 1948 and 1949 with the 's' prefix as 'sCC1' (in malachite green with 'British Railways' in sunshine font) and 'sCC2' as stated above in ultramarine blue with silver lines and lettering (in the same style as sCC1).
  18. sCC2 was not 'BR Bue' as we know it, in 1948, but Ultramarine Blue with silver lettering and lining...
  19. Hi, As Phil has advised, this discussion is with respect to the number position not the colour.
  20. Hi Phil, I had missed the the 'still' so have edited my response above. (note to self, stop skim reading)
  21. Edit] The model is based on the picture in "An Illustrated History of Southern Coaches" by Mike King, Plate 165... Sorry I missed the fact that you referred to 'still' and I also doubt they would have been such in 1960s
  22. Not so much a "price hike" (£10 difference) but an end to the pre-order price, that was maintained for many years, and those that have pre-ordered have already kindly paid. Even I have to say it's worth the wait..
  23. An interesting article and picture, the loco pictured is 20002 (obviously at a different time to the article) , rather that 20003 as per the text and is in black and aluminum.
