  1. 0 gauge is such a treat to build. Alot less fiddly compared to the smaller scales

Until you get to all the tiny bits you wouldn't bother with in smaller scales. But it's worth it in the end.

  2. 0 gauge or no gauge ?

  15. Cant make my mind up. My layout is going to be spilt level the bottom is set in cornwall, but should i have a somerset and dorset theme on thr top level? What to do? :)

But then again I bet a huge club room allocated o gauge space helped to move things along? How is swansea this rather wet November?

    4. Earl Bathurst

      Earl Bathurst

Very good paul. Club is moving ahead well, we have taken over the basement which is going to house an o gauge layout.

  19. Do I bite the bullet and apply to go to university to become a teacher or not? If I do that mean being poor for 3 years :(

If you're not sure then consider other options like doing a normal degree. If you still want to teach after this then do a PGCE.

    3. PNEYorkshire

      PNEYorkshire

If you really want to do it then being poor is a worthy sacrifice. Spent the last 4 years being poor but at least it teaches you the real value of money!

    4. Revolution Mike

      Revolution Mike

Personally I would do a normal degree and a PGCE. I would also look at what subjects are shortage subjects (better grants/golden hellos etc). Ultimately you have to want to be a teacher - it is hard work, but rewarding if you can cope with it. (Don't believe myths that it is particularly poorly paid).

  20. Do I buy a sound decoder for my 0 gauge Heljan or not? can't decide

    1. muddys-blues

      muddys-blues

      Ooh what loco ?

    2. Stevelewis

      Stevelewis

I can tell you sound in the Heljan 0 Diesels does add an extra dimension, brings the loco to life, can get a bit intrusive at times BUT you have the option to reduce the Volume !!

    3. Earl Bathurst

      Earl Bathurst

I have a western, 37 and 33 but what loco to do?

  21. Do i buy some Arriva trains Wales DMU's even though its not the era I model?? :)

  24. Feel like ripping up layout and starting again. can't get it to look and run how I want. Frustrating

    1. Castle

      Castle

There is only one way to fix the problems - one at a time. Concentrate on it in that manner and you will be fine!

    2. naturol

      naturol

If that's how you feel now, the seeds of doubt are sown, start again dude, keep it simple. And achieve able in a said time. Flog it on flea bay and move on.

  25. Feeling lost, cant find my way forward, so annoying
