  1. And a third way, if inflation is 10% and they're not redeemed in that year you're only getting £9 worth of goods compared to the £10 if you'd spent them straight away. Mind you the same applies to a tenner!
  2. It will run just to the south of the showground alongside the location in the pics, maybe it's the first bit completed. ;)
  3. I've been up there this afternoon and evening and the selection of layouts is superb. I spent an hour or two photographing Copper Wort for a future article. I would suggest spending 15-30 minutes to really appreciate the exceptional amount of detail. Fork handles! No snow observed, it's safe to travel. I was surprised to find OLE equipment within 100 yards of the showground and an old OAA or similar!
  4. It could be down to a browser update causing issues with an existing cookie. Please try removing any rmweb.co.uk cookies and browsing history from your browser and login again. To determine if it's a server fault or a local issue it's worth trying an alternative browser.
  5. My colleague from posh Warwickshire believes Stafford to be 'north' and, for him, the Showground is high. Guildex has proved that such arduous journeys are possible for him but he prefers the bus.
  6. Certainly so, I've known of several relayed from Rotterdam or Spain in one case and there was one dropped at the boot of Italy whilst passing and reaching the UK before the same ship had come through the channel. It's not been a time of logic or predictability.
  7. See To me it's more a case of Oxford being sold rather than Hornby buying it when beneficiaries are considered.
  8. The good old days of an operator connecting the call to 536 0026 - no STD codes then!
  9. The positive comment probably wouldn't have led to another wave of negativity on its own. What happened after that post has. 🤬
  10. These are just existing products/stock made available via hornby.com
  11. Yes, because I'd just posted this a few seconds earlier.

  13. They do on most of mine. I'm looking at a way to partially overcome and reduce the length of the connection between wagons.
  14. Yes; we get seagulls who land, flap about and leave their crap but the latest antagonism (which followed a positive post) came from re-igniting a 15-month old comment. By whom? That would have been a sound ethos. Instead I'm having to look at seagull crap.
  15. Not very impressed with the new Richard Osman; at all.

      Corrie?

It explains why I've never come across her before.  I've not watched that since Ernie Bishop was gunned down in a payroll snatch...

Perhaps for balance, we'll see someone from Eastenders in the rotation!

  16. I've got one already but they do tend to cost more than that come Christmas.
  17. The time to worry is if Michael Fish has said there's no snow this weekend.
  18. Oh good, hopefully we can get a better 'expert' if he's in the Tower for a bit; I'll nominate Anthony Coulls.
  19. You're right, to me it was a mix of a looped march which was asynchronous to any band shown and, as you say, a constant level. Big Ben's bong and the guns in Hyde Park were added in as their level didn't change even though the camera position in relation to them did so. However, both of us shed a few tears with the removal of the monarch's instruments as if to say "your job is done" swiftly followed by the lowered coffin and fading piper's lament. RIP.
  20. For those not familiar with the venue Parker and I did a Smith and Jones a couple of weeks ago at Guildex. Apologies for the background noise!
  21. My apologies for this; it's a result of someone in the office not understanding image dimensions, pixels and ppi. This was set up late on Friday and, of course, no-one is around to fix it until Tuesday. The browser back function will clear it temporarily. It's worth reminding users that they can enjoy the site without pop-up ads by becoming a. RMweb Premium member for £12 per annum to support running costs. This wasn't why this was done though, that's just incompetence.
  22. It's always nice when someone has asked for advice and comes back with a good result. I had intended to head over yesterday but ended up starting off some DIY; which now needs finishing of course. 🥺
