  1. Grooming advice for blokes: If you use an electric razor, you can catch up on RMweb whilst shaving!

  2. Can't beat a tug on a Monday morning, and a blue one is even better,

  3. I should be checking out of Hotel Treliske next Tuesday after 6 weeks of care by the NHS. Can't wait to get back to my home bed, but will miss the wonderful staff for whom I will be eternally grateful

  8. Hi Andy

I tried to put a two minute video of my Haymarket layout on RMWeb last night taken on my IPhone but it kept getting rejected as it was over the 10meg limit.

I see from other threads videos of up to 30 minutes.

I cannot find a way to reduce my video file size.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can insert a video clip on my Haymarket thread.

    Regards

    David

Yeah; he's lucky I'm not as grumpy this morning because it's Friday and I've been a good boy this week getting all my work done. :)

Just been dealing with another one. I just wanted to ask "Did you keep the box the computer came in?".

  12. Hi Andy,

I'm probably being incredibly dumb here.  I need to send you a PM to seek permission to post info about a weathering course that I am organising, but I havn't needed to send a PM on RMWEB since it was updated to the newer version, and I can't work out how to PM you!  :scratchhead:

If I click on any reference to you, such as in a post you made, I get to your profile.  On your profile page, I can see this topic that I can post to, but I can't for the life of me find a PM link.  I'm sure it will be blindingly obvious when you tell me, so please could you put me out of my misery?

    Thanks,

    Pete

  13. My 1960s Southern Region EMU/Steam transition era layout is Branksdowne Park. Set in the Bournemouth area  during 1966-68. It is long and thin - just 13" wide - to fit in my shed. I can accommodate 28 feet of the scenic section at any one time, but the layout overall will be 40 x 16 feet with a 10 road fiddle yard at the rear. The concept is to show full length trains of up to 12 cars (3 x 4-car sets) at relatively high speeds passing through a small Suburban station, redolent of so much of the Southwestern Main Line. In this scenario, the S&D route is still open, although Bournemouth West has closed - so all S&D traffic has to pass through our little station too. The first five scenic boards are nearly complete (July 2021) with the signalling installed (Absolute Aspects) and most scenic work finished. We then have one more 5ft scenic board plus two semi-cenic corner boards to do, one of which is half finished as it contains the second part of the Steam Loco depot. We expect to be able to show it in October 2022 at the East Anglian Railway Museum's Small Trains Day.

    Hi Andy,

You may have noticed I have a new project taking shape on DENT, rather than have two topics is it possible to rename 'DENT STATION' to 'DENT STATION with CHESTERGATE'.

Please let me know mate, hope you and yours are doing okay in these difficult times.

    Best wishes,

  22. Armed Forces Day - Red Arrows just completed their flypast over RMweb Towers.

  23. My wife is eagerly waiting for the SECR D Class to arrive today from @RailsOfSheffield . She was very taken with the original at the NRM.- so what have your spouses and partners got running on your layouts?

  24. Having caught myself in the mirror in the lounge I realised I'd turned into Pooh Bear.

Covid is gone enough that I have returned to the gym today and the good news is that whilst I am unfit I am not over the hill yet.

No more honey for my tummy though for a bit.

  25. For any interested members and I apologise if you have already found it, I've discovered the following website https://scrca.foscl.org.uk/railway-land-plans-introduction-and-index

It has very detailed survey maps of most of the Settle to Carlisle line from the 1900's.

A brilliant resource for anyone contemplating an S and C layout. I know it will be very helpful to me in adding accurate detail to the layout.

    Happy modelling.
