  1. I think based on the Class 87, then if Hornby have been working on an Class 86, then if they can get theirs out it would be a sure winner. Many Heljan models, that have been previously released have accuracy flaws somewhere! My money would go on a Hornby one! They just need to sort out the none working pantograph issues.... Regards, C.
  2. Hi Fran, Thanks for the reply on sounds. I take it either way, the sound option its going to be as top notch as possible, to match the locomotives spec. Didn't know whether you'd got the likes of Paul Chetter, or Biffo to work on it. Best Wishes, C.
  3. Hi - is there any news on the spec of the Sound Versions? I read somewhere it were based on D9019, but cannot find any further information. Was mainly interested in whether the functionality will allow the locomotive to be running on 1 and 2 engines. Only other things I can think of is a couple of LED's in the exhaust to represent the "flames" Deltics were renowned for.... Regards, C.
  4. Hi - as per photo/video on post #467 - is the roof grille on the Class 66 going to be finer than that displayed on the Colas sample? Looks rather crude in that post. Thanks, Regards, C.
  5. Sorry - I do not think a thread on the Accurascale Deltic is the place to have an argument about Rails/Locomotion. It should be elsewhere. I would say feel free to start a thread, and put a link in here, so it can be continued. Personally, I think that its wholly disrespectful to the Accurascale team, who are striving to deliver a superb product, to discuss it here. Lets keep this thread to discuss the Accurascale Deltic, and the hard work that Accurascale are putting into this iconic workhorse. Regards, C.
  6. Guys - I think Ben and Mike will get as much detail as possible on the models, and I'm sure Jason will moan again at Gareth, for the models taking up so much time in the tampo printing room! Every confidence that the MMA's will be a superb job, and a wonderful model, that will follow the pedigree of their TEA. MMArvelous! Regards, C.
  7. Its as per my earlier comments on the Cargowaggon. KMRC will want to add their full "margin" to the models. Their exclusives are never cheap - I suppose the argument of risk v. reward is a possible argument, its also in line with the RRP of Bachmann Products, they have a business to run etc.,whether its that, greed or any other is for the individual modeller to decide. Likewise people have to decide whether to purchase them or not - its a choice we have. If they don't sell then price is too high, if they do, it paid off! Like I said with the Cargowaggon - Revolution would have sold a good quantity more in than KMRC, and that is simple price v. quantity economics. But I'm sure all parties have their reasons. On a general note - I think its good that people are starting to look at the cost of things, instead of just saying, I will have "X" and "Y". It should be food for thought, for all manufacturers/suppliers that price is getting an ever important consideration for modellers, and each product needs to be compete, within the market place, not just be made up of what they think they can get away with selling it for, because its an "exclusive". Nothing lasts forever......... Regards,
  8. Yes - unfortunately its like a "Mystic Meg" wish list..... Regarding the crazy pricing - particularly on older models, then I actually think its Kader who are dictating to Bachmann, and they are just selling it for X. Are people really still buying this stuff? If they are - thats why its happening. As for me glad I bought a load of HEA's and MEA 's on the old chassis for about £5-£6 and not touched any since! And to Normalise to give some sort of context (similar model, both selling through retailers etc) - Hornby Seacow - 29.99, Bachmann 49.95. Regards, C.
  9. Hi, if anything I'd say you don't need the trap point between the fuel point and headshunt, as the headshunt protects the mainline. Regards, C.
  10. Hi - just been reading about the layout - looking good. Regards the "squeak" on Hornby Locos - try removing the belt drive to the fans to see if it stops it. They may need lubrication. Some people have said in the past that the fan belt drive can cause problems. Regards, C.
  11. Well Hattons must have known what were coming as they had photos on their website. Just glad that I cancelled my order (think thats the only way large companies listern), and I have put the money towards other items. I am surprised at Hattons tho - particularly now they are doing their own models, as it must have damaged their reputation. On the other side of that - I suppose in hindsight - what did we expect to get for £1 extra, plus perhaps thats why they want their own production capacity, so they can control the product better.. Lets just hope the Class 66, does not end up as the Atlas one! Regards, C.
  12. Personally, I never find that Bachmann Chassis are ever as smooth as Hornby, and are often noisier. I've got a 66728 (which I told the retailer about it), and it hums that loud it could nearly pass as sound fitted. The retailer said, that they have a Bachmann Class 37, thats the same, so should not be a problem! Regarding the end marks on the Class 85- almost looks as though someone has tried to pack them when still slightly wet, hence the "smudged marks" and possibly the chips are where the paint is at its thinnest on the edge, so has dried faster, hence when whatever has been put next to the body has been separated its "pulled" the paint off, resulting in the likes of the small chips. Regards, C.
  13. At least they are progressing nicely...... On the latest Rapido news, the latest update contained a little info on the TEA's. Must say the separately fitted DG plate looks superb, complete with a slight recess to represent where the DG code gets changed on the real things..... Regards, C.
  14. Sorry, but I made comments based upon where the market is heading. I were not the one, making remarks like "well its not happening main stream is it", well how can you make such a comment, unless your totally unaware of at least some of the models I gave. If Hattons, Rapido, Accurascale, are not "mainstream" and they all have stalls at Warley in 2018, then what is mainstream? FTSE 100? Don't get any relevance of 5700 posts, particularly if they are all as well founded as the one that was posted in response to mine. Regards Para 2 - Thats what I were saying. But doesn't get the "ever increasing amount of models" - well, based on my list I'd say you can miss the amount of models coming out..... Happy Modelling
  15. Glad you have decided to join us. In "OO" gauge a few things off the top of my head, to compete with the "Big 4"....... HUO's, PRA's, D6xx's, Bullied Diesels, LNER Dynomoeter, Cemflows, PGA's, TEA's, Class 156, Sterling Single, Class 66, Belihack Snowploughs, RHTT, P Class and Hunslet Barclay Steam Locos, Class 142 new tool to follow, IZA Cargowaggons, LNER Tram engine (aka "Toby"), 2 other steam locos for Model Tails, plus BBA's recently announced. (Nevermind APT-P and Class 92's....) Many manufacturers also make announcements at Warley, so heaven knows what else, will get announced there. Plus Revolution are due to make an announcement in "OO", once the TEA's are dispatched. Unless we all win the lottery, people are having to be more selective on what they purchase. The industry is very "boyant" and many of the new manufacturers are producing excellent models, which are as good, if not better than many products of the "big 4". May I be the first to welcome you back to model railways...... (Oh and just incase you weren't aware, Mainline Railways and Hornby Dublo have ceased production)
  16. I think there is a rather large "Assumption" being made by Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan and Dapol - that people are prepared to pay their SRP, minus the 10-15%. There are already bargains to be had in the marketplace if you know where to look, and with an ever increasing amount of products coming from other suppliers, aren't sales from the "Big 4" going to decline in the long term in anycase, without actually trying to put customers off? Plus, add to this of course, many of their products are re-liveries, whilst the "new comers" are producing new models..... Regards, C.
  17. Progress - you also get some passengers now onboard, using their phones to see how fast trains are going....
  18. Yes, but if you look closely the "Merlin" Livery actually uses some of the same "lines" as "Intercity", as its basis. Regards, C.
  19. Yeah, exactly. If it it don't look right then no point bothering. Regarding 006B & 006C - All the others have been possible - I would imagine it was possibly to do with re-creation of the rusty "Ex-ICI" on the body sides. Its the only major difference. I can appreciate weathering can be a personal taste. Personally, I have cancelled them so as not to take the risk on a few hundred pounds. I already have a rake of clean. If I like the weathering when they turn up - then I'll re-order. Failing that, its money I'll but towards Class 66's or Cemflo wagons.... Regards, C.
  20. That was my worry when looking on the website. As per earlier - please tell us Dave this is not the 'final result' after the lovely 'version 2', we all said yes to. Whilst I know weathering can be a personal taste, and I know they are only £1 more, but I'd argue that if thats the weathering, then we may just as well as had clean ones....(unless they look much better in the flesh?) Regards, C.
  21. Hi, Yes an update based on what people are saying: Class 50's - I had thought about 50007 Hercules (but thought that unlikely with someone having a recent "Sir Ed" Ltd Edition), plus 50017 (its usual partner in crime) but again with Glorious in late NSE at the mo, thought that would be unlikely. Too much toothpaste and all that...... Class 31's - then yes there are gaps in the range, but had left them alone because, having worked for a trader in the past - Class 31's were always very slow sellers. I think its the case that everyone wants one, but when a Class 37 or a Class 47 comes out, they buy them first..... 121/122 - someone else is doing Loadhaul. New model - well the Class 86 has been suggested, to follow the Class 87 - but who knows.....hence not worth speculating. Caledonian Class 86/87- well I had left that due to the poor sales of the TTS Class 67, which is still lingering. Plus a few years back, Hornby did on their website do a poll for a Class 92 in Cal Sleeper, but obviously there was little interest, hence it never happened. Must admit, after seeing the MK3's in the livery, I don't find the sleepers hard to resist. One thing I did miss, and it was really shoody of me, with my user name, was the humble Class 153 - FGW Local Lines anyone? Come on Hornby, someone else did it with a 143, go for the 153! And with Great Western Liveries being popular - how about a Heart of Wessex or St. Ives Belle.... Perhaps we may also see an RAF Class 156? A BR Blue Class 08 with TTS may be a good option, but most of the main liveries have been pretty saturated - EWS were done in a few guises, and still alot of DB and Bachmann Blue ones around. Hence - going for the different option, and with DRS being popular, and a variant of 08 very few people had, stood out as a good option. TTS could no doubt get expanded - A first Gen DMU, a Class 153, a Class 156, a Class 50 and Class 87 being I would expect the most wanted from modellers.... Lastly, a wallet large enough to afford it all..... Regards, C.
  22. Hi....with all the doom and gloom..just a cheeky look forward to think what models may be up Hornby's Sleeve for 2019, or things that perhaps would make many modellers happy.... Personally from a modern perspective.... HST - Scotrail perhaps (inc Coaches)...., First Great Westerns 43002/43185 as a pack would be welcomed by many. Class 56 - DCR Grey 56312, and a Colas variant? Class 08 - DRS version with TTS or possibly an Neville Hill EMT version.... Class 60 - DB Schenker, TTG Construction and another Colas Class 50 - 50019 Ramillies in Laira Blue, 50049 in Large Logo (Current Mainline condition) Class 67 - The second of the Colas models would be very nice - perhaps in a pack with a couple of Network Rail Yellow Mk2's? A Northern Belle Pair? Class 87 - A DRS or GBRf variant, plus 87012 in NSE/Back the bid A Seacow in Transrail Red/Grey KFA's with rubbish containers Regards, C.
  23. P Post #297, for anyone wanting to see what they were going to be like...... Hattons website - for crimes against PHV's.... Regards, C.
