  1. Project X revealed! The usual rapid rate of progress. Looking forwards to see it in person next week. Cheers, Ade.
  2. Got the ends on now. The door joint could do with a bit more solder.
  3. Thanks Andy. Yes, honestly first time. Will be great to catch up and get to hear about "Project X" Cheers, Ade.
  4. Had a go at my first attempt at some soldering of the kit tonight. Inner doors put on and one end fixed in place. After a quick wash and brush up I am quite pleased with the results. Thanks again to George T for the lesson! Cheers, Ade.
  5. Not much to report since my last post. The lousy wet weather has set my builder back, so no start on the concrete base. But the brake van build is progressing. Got all the rivets embossed and all the folding done to the van sides, solebars etc. We are off to the Severn Valley Railway this coming weekend in the camper van. Cheers, Ade.
  6. Slightly confused as to when these and the A4's and the Teaks will hit the shops? In the flyer given out at GCR it says August 2020 for the A3's and Q4 2020 for the A4's and the Teaks. I suspect this is a typo? But Hattons website says August 2019 for the A3's and between June 2019 & July 2019 for the A4's (I suspect this will not be happening given we have not seen a fully decorated loco yet?) and between July 2019 & August 2019 for the Teaks? Cheers, Ade.
  7. To me, one of the star layouts was the vintage 00-9 narrow gauge layout "Llareggub" based on Dylan Thomas novel "Under Milk Wood" built by Dave Rowe. It was one of the first layouts as you entered the show on the left exhibited by the Llanfair & Welshpool railway. I remember this layout from being in Railway Modeller in the 1970's and I was realy pleased to see it is still around.
  8. A few pics of some of the locos on the line yesterday. There were two 8F's in steam plus a BR Standard 5. We rode behind the 8F's during our two trips up and down the line.
  9. Some of the new A4 body shells on display on Hattons stand at GCR yesterday.
  10. A couple of snaps of "Flying Scotsman" in LNER & BR guise on display on Hattons stand at GCR yesterday.
  11. Very enjoyable show. I took my wife with me for the first time to a show and she actually enjoyed it! I just bought a selection of embossed brick paper, as with several new O gauge locos hitting the market later this year I need to save some pennies. My wife now wants to the buy the new Bachmann GCR OO gauge buildings to do a model of Ruddington which is my home village. Sad news about the thefts. Cheers, Ade.
  12. OO is little to me being a 7mm guy. Going to see what might fit on some plywood I have spare..
  13. I am from Ruddington and this is the same design as the old lost station I remember as a small child ....this could tempt me to do a little OO gauge layout.... Cheers, Ade.
  14. Arrived this evening and got set up at our camp site just down the road from Quorn station. Cheers, Ade.
  15. Hi Mike, enjoyed our chat tonight at work. Glad you called in. Cheers, Ade.
  16. Saw this on the saleroom wall at work last night and thought I would share it here. Cheers, Ade.
  17. My wife and I are off to the show this Friday evening. We have a motorhome and have booked to stay at the farm next door the Quorn & Woodhouse station. So this is ideal for us. Cheers, Ade.
  18. Had not planned on starting the 16ton Toad kit yet, but a wet day has changed my plans. Got parts cut out from the fret and had a go a forming the rivetts on the solebars.
