  1. To be fair I was a skeptic too and with hindsite I agree unfairly as recent to that I was stung by the DJM models debacle which clouded my judgement. However I have decided to give them a go and order a GT3 from the second run via rails of Sheffield my theory being that should anything go wrong Rails will refund although I feel this is unlikely. Anyway my feeling is that the award by Hornby mag is voted by the public and is hopefully an indication of the quality of the model so I feel more confident than ever I should receive a quality product and will give me confidence to buy again from KR models should they produce anything I am interested in.
  2. Was Hornby or the apt at GETS today- anyone get any updates?
  3. I attended a toy fair in Buxton last weekend with little mask wearing and little social distancing, being double jabbed with no underlying health issues it didn’t bother me. My thought process being that everyone has their own personal responsibility and will do their own personal risk assessment before attending and if it was worth their risk or not. We have to return to normal and learn to live with the virus. If rates rise and we get new guidance obviously I will follow it. Looking at Andy’s pic that environment wouldn’t worry me.
  4. Are you allowed to say if they have been sent to the shops yet (such as Rails) or are they yet to be shipped out? thanks
  5. Would they have run with the J70 (model rail limited edition with rapido? thanks mark
  6. While I am sure Hornby will have been careful not to due this I expect that I and a few others will be watching for any whiteboards in the background or any hints and clues about what may be coming next. Just for fun you understand not obsessed at all!
  7. Being a supporter of AC electrics having been brought up alongside the west coast mainline I was interested to see how both these and the class 85 sold. I was told at a show by someone on the Bachmann stand that the class 85 washed its face which I took to mean recouped the development costs but wasn’t a huge seller. The class 90 seems to have sold well judging by how many have appeared in bargain bins which I don’t think has been that many. My hope is that sales will have been enough to encouraged Bachmann to have a go at more AC electrics and further runs of the 90. Perhaps there is a delay as Bachmann seek to resolve the issues from the first batch along with the small matter of the pandemic which has delayed everything from everyone! As frustrating as it may be for some only time will tell.
  8. Honestly no idea but if this tooling is now owned by Heljan (rather than hattons) a release via efe rail is a possibility.

    On Cats

Unfortunately our Aldi was put to sleep this morning, thyroid problem causing more issues. 14 years old we had her for 10 the most loving cat I have ever known. We are all devastated as anyone who has had to make that decision will be able to relate to.
  10. In the interview with Andy Y I think they described it as a warm over or soft upgrade or something like that, some parts have been done but it was a whole new retool only a few years ago (I think)!
  11. It says there are over 10 available so is this the first batch left overs (held back in case of returns etc) but now released to the public or part of the second batch which is in production? I know my brother has pre ordered and paid for a second batch machine could he be offered one of this batch (rhetorical question I know)!
  12. I am intrigued by the modern loco mystery bundle for £250 it has a picture of the class 87 I would like but no clue as to the other loco and £250 is too much money to take a punt.
  13. Yes I had the same thought and I think but am not sure the Hornby coming soon pages had them down as arriving in sept/ October. I expect when Hornby commissioned the ad that was the expectation but I think I have seen quoted the mags need about 6 weeks lead time to place adverts so I reckon Hornby placed the ad in good faith but then things happened which has pushed the model back. Same thing has happened with the class 91 ad too.
  14. Having seen a few with lights added and also having the Dapol O gauge I think it really adds something to the 08.
  15. This has probably been mentioned but I wonder if accurascale have considered something to shunt their awesome wagon range like a new 08. While the Hornby and Bachmann ones are nice they have been around for some time so a new one with lights etc would be really cool!
  16. Disappointing but it will turn up when it turns up was thinking they were soon as a production model was at Chester. I wonder if there is a shipping rather than a production issue. If the coach packs arrive first I wonder if we can couple them to conventional stock and drag them round like a test train.
  17. Thanks for the video really whetted the appetite, obviously Andy was impressed but the enthusiasm and commitment from the Bachmann lads was good to see too clearly they are proud of their new product.
  18. I had hoped with the adverts appearing in the model press and the model in the coming soon part of the Hornby website these were on the way but I think these are pre-production samples rather than production samples brought across before the main batch? I agree they look good though.
  19. I know it’s not quite accurate but cheapest I have seen it https://www.modelrailwaysdirect.co.uk/locomotive-diesel-electric/Hornby-r3880-br-class-31-a1a-a1a-31147-floreat-salopia-era-8/
  20. Thanks for the video interesting they have been working on the 47 for 4 years which easily predated the latest route to announcement but they kept it under their hats. They did say they have every interest covered with the stuff in progress so hopefully there will be something with a pantograph!
  21. Can someone laser scan and produce something not done yet?
  22. Got to be class 47, 25, 56 or APT or even a terrier! Anyway probably too expensive my wallet is either breathing a sigh or relief or quaking in a corner and there are 1 too many rivets on some part or other! Yes I may have got out of the wrong side of bed this morning!
  23. I do hope Andy looks at his wife the same way that he went gooey eyed at the 47- otherwise she will be very jealous!
  24. Hereford models have some cheap 2nd hand Heljan diesels on their site including this Heljan 47 for £70 http://herefordmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=832_833_1032_1033&products_id=16446

    On Cats

We had a female cat which was followed by a tabby kitten a few months later. They were fine but unfortunately the female cat had feline hiv and was put down about a year later. This left the tabby male cat which was followed by a black and white male kitten a month or so later. While they just avoided each other and there was very little fighting they seemed to be spraying all over the house (both cats were neutered) and this never stopped until we rehomed the tabby and it stopped overnight. Although both cats were noted to be participating. We tried all sorts to get them to stop (not the sweets though) and we in the end had to rehome the tabby when we were expecting a baby (who is now 18)! They are awkward these cats!
