  1. If I may suggest, would it not be more productive to spend time on the forums for the manufacturers you choose to support and not the ones you don't? I note on the right hand side that you have the 4th most amount of posts on this thread, which if you don't (and perhaps never have/never will) have any intention of buying any Hornby TT, isn't it all a bit pointless?
  2. I'm rather baffled this is your view point when Hornby is, in my limited browsing and modelling, by far the most criticised and lambasted manufacturer on here and maybe in general. Presumably on the other manufactures thread where people sing praise you have posted a similar viewpoint?
  3. I think a lot of it is down to cookies (the internet kind, not the chocolate kind to which I am unhelpfully partial) as I Google-d quite a lot of TT around the time of the launch and now I can't get away from the ads online!
  4. I wonder if there are issues with Hornby controllers, would there also be issues with other entry level controllers people are likely to use like the Bachmann train set controller or Kato train set controller? I've personally not seen any issues with a HM2000, but that's above entry level I suppose
  5. And, or course, the dirty great 3D scan they had mentioned twice
  6. Having seen some layout images I found my hand inexorably navigating to the Rapido website to place an order I took a fancy to the black one with industrial steam being rather up my alley (think the PI Kerr Stuart Victory which is a fantastic engine). However, I use DC, and I can't seem to place an order for the DC one with the only option being DCC fitted, am I missing something or just being a bit dense?
  7. Whatever comes next I'd like for it to be in the same vein as the Victory. I have a few layouts and so my Victory can either be seen in a fairly grimy Inglenook industrial yard or on a heritage-ish railway hauling some coaches or a goods train. I'd like to see its successor have some similar heft and versatility.
  8. I think this is a bit of a stretch personally
  9. I'm not sure where the risk lays really? If you buy something in stock in my experience it gets shipped within a day so unless the company folds in the few hours between placing an order and despatch (which would be unfathomably unlucky) you'd be fine, and if you're placing a pre-order no money is taken until the item arrives into stock, so again no capital risk if the went under during development.
  10. If only that was mentioned in the episode...
  11. Probably not too small for DCC sound as confirmed by sound fitted N and 009 models, but perhaps too small to easily and cheaply mass fit with DCC sound in a factory.
  12. I assume you mean the one that's wheels weren't turning. If so, that was the gold 00 tender drive one the programme had spent about 5 minutes on up until that point. Amazing what you see when you watch
  13. I don't think any single place is a good indication of the hobby as a whole, one needs to look at multiple outlets to gain a fair assessment
  14. Well, it looks better than the tension locks, which I think is the whole point
  15. Google is your friend https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/power-of-attraction Half way down
  16. I don't think one necessarily kills the other, I think they are the analogue and digital versions of the same thing, Bluetooth control. In much the same way I don't think the Select is a analogue control killer as both have their places
  17. I wonder if we'd see similar drops at times from other companies if they were PLC's. I'd guess their company structures are the only reason we don't know about things like this with some other manufacturers.
  18. I think eras are a general guide for people who perhaps aren't as clued up as most of us but still want some roughly matching stuff for their layout. I don't need era flashes to tell me that the streamlined B17s didn't run at the same time as/with MK3 coaches but others may want that guidance.
  19. If you point the errors out to them maybe they can correct them, if you just bang on about it on here, perhaps less so
  20. The anniversary one is £195 as says the table underneath the slides pointing out price corrections...
  21. On the flipside, I can imagine that, being diecast, it can pull a fair amount!
  22. Being interested in quirky BR stuff and having not seen this before I looked it up on Flickr and found this below image, they look black to me there although could that just be grime? Link:
