  1. No, the layout is analogue control. Each track has its own power track except for the one nearest the backscene, which is for displaying models only.
  2. Right another update. Still no work on the layout but I won 75029 and it's been test ran and it runs smoothly. I've also purchased Class 24 D5061 in 'as perserved' condition. It's light fitted, which I found out on its test run, and runs smoothly. I've also brought J72 0-6-0T 69023. It's not been test run yet but I'm hoping it works. 75029 and D5061 on my work-in-progress OO gauge layout shortly after the test runs. I also brought a headboard: As of the other loco's I'm trying to track down: Key - NF means I've not found that loco. 3. Once I had the parcel the locomotive was in, I opened it up in my bedroom and gave it ab inspection. It looked like was missing a lot of parts, the most obvious being the headcode discs and cab handrails. I decided to make a list of what it was missing and it was made up of the following: Headcode discs Cab handrails Steps on the bufferbeam Vacuum brake pipes Sanding gear pipes More pipes electric cables I already had headcode discs as I brought them before the locomotive. The folded ones just needed painting BR green as they were yellow. I would fit them after they had two coats of paint. The majority of the pipe and cable work was on the bufferbeam. I knew I wouldn't be able to fit it all on as the couplings were in the way. I decided to buy these at a later date. For now, I would concentrate on getting the headcode discs on the front of the locomotive and sourcing the cab handrails. I had a look on the Bachmann spares website (where I got the headcode discs from) and see if I could find any Class 24 cab handrails on there. Sure enough, I did and brought some immediately. 12/04/23 The cab handrails arrived in the post yesterday. I was at the festival of British Railway Modelling in Doncaster so I opened the parcel when I got home. I'll probably fit them on the loco today. I've also brought a bufferbeam detailing pack so that should arrive next week. Just finished gluing on the cab handrails on one side of D5061. It's an absolute fath putting them on. I decided it would be best to do them one at time waiting until the one I put on first stuck properly and then do the second one. I'm going to wait until the glue has dried on the last one and then do the other side. Update: Just finished doing both sides. It was very difficult putting them in place but I got there in the end. The first side I did... ...and the other 13/02/23 My bufferbeam detailing pack arrived in the post today. I'll have fun putting them on(!) Currently trying to figure out what goes where.
  4. I saw two 08s at Leeds TMD on 04/02/23, a weathered looking EWS liveried one and only saw the back of another one. If anyone could help me identify them then that would be great.
  5. I've got a few items of rolling stock that are fitted with sprung buffers. I don't think it detracts from the overall look of the loco/wagon.
  6. I've just been today and I thought it was a good show this year. Saw all the layouts and brought a few things from traders that were there. Overlord was pretty impressive. A few photos:
  7. D5061 was preserved in July 1991 after which it was displayed at the Midland Railway Center 'Diesel Spectacular' on the 20th/21st during the same month. Currently, D5061 based on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, having arrived there in the late 90s. It was withdrawn in 2014 pending an overhaul but it's currently stored in a siding near the Deviation shed at Grosmont awaiting attention. a couple of photos:
  8. Am I correct in thinking that Network Rail took over from Railtrack?
  9. Speaking of 24s, how does one fit the headcode discs? They've got a little peg or something on the back to slot into the holes above the marker lights on the model. I'm having difficulty getting them in properly. Should they protrude a bit and leave a small gap between the discs and front of the loco or should they be flat? With gap Without gap Or could I just cut off the protruding bit of the back of the discs and glue them on instead?
  10. Perhaps that's the reason why so few are preserved? 🤔
  11. As mentioned before, the model is of D5061. D5061 was built at Crewe Works in 1960. The locomotive entered service at March (31B) on 15 January. In October the same year, it moved to Willesden (1A) and then moved sheds again to 2A Rugby (2A) a month later. It then moved back to Willesden in April 1961.
  12. I like the actual locomotives as well. I've seen Class 24s D5032 and D5061 and Class 25 D7628 all of which are preserved on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) which is where I saw them.
  13. The Class 24 was being sold via auction on eBay. One day, I happened to come across it while looking for new locomotivs for the layout. I looked at the photos and it appeared to be in good condition. The model was of D5061, a loco that is now preserved. Although it was missing a lot of detailing, I thought I would be able to buy some from somewhere such as Peter's Spares or from Bachmann themselves. I thought it would be a good addition to the layout and so I bid for it. The day that the auction ended came and I kept a close eye on it especially near the time the auction ended. I was outbid twice but I soon got back into the race by bidding more money. Eventually, the last minute of the auction came and I put my bid up just in case someone tried to bid for it. Someone did in the last few seconds and then, it was over. I was certain that the person who bid for it would win, but did they bid enough to overtake my bid? No, they did not. I won the bid £3 away from losing to the person who bid a few seconds before the auction ended. Immediately after this, I purchased the locomotive and then patiently waited for its arrival.
  14. Why do people sell them with bits missing? Can't they add the parts themselves?
  15. When I'm going out on train, I always buy return tickets. I have a railcard as well which makes the journeys I make a little bit cheaper. Don't know how I'd manage with return tickets.
  16. My Bachmann Class 24 came today. It's missing lots of small details though such as cab handrails, headcode discs, and various bits of pipeworks. I already have headcode discs, I've ordered the cab handrails and I'll order the pipework on Friday.
  17. Someone modelled Harworth engine sheds on the Keighley Worth Valley Railway and it looks spot on! There is a lot of detail.
  18. It's not been run yet. It'll have to wait until next week: I'm busy during the weekend so I won't get the chance to but I may be able to run it on Sunday.
  19. Got a bit of a story. I got an email yesterday to remind me that a Mainline J72 I purchased was waiting collecting at Argos. So, I went to Argos to pick up, what I presumed, was the J72. When I got there I gave them the FM code and the woman who served me got out a rather large box. I thought "That box is a bit big just for a small loco" anyway, went back home with the new loco in hand and opened the box. However, upon emptying the box I was taken by surprise: This was definitely NOT the locomotive I'd ordered. But, I had ordered 75029 (which is what the model is of) earlier on in the week and had a separate email for it. So I was left thinking that this was the model I'd ordered and eBay sent the wrong email or the person who was supposed to send me the J72, sent me this instead. However, 3hrs ago I got this email: These are the guys who were supposed to send me the J72. What's the parcel? The J72 I didn't receive on Sunday. So I'm now guessing the model I got yesterday is the model of 75029 I've ordered and eBay sent me the wrong email by mistake.
  20. A slightly rubbish photo of Class 37/2 37218 stabled in the sidings opposite platform 11 at York yesterday (04/02/23). My phone's camera doesn't work that well in the dark and struggles to focus. This was the best I got.
  21. Class 37/0 37075 stabled at Haworth loco sheds on the KWVR yesterday (04/02/23). Keeping the 37 company are Class 144 'Pacer' 144011 and L&YR Class 25 0-6-0 52044, whose chimney is just visible between the two.
