  1. It's well known that as soon as you design something to be 'idiot proof', the universe conspires to build a Better Idiot...
  2. No Class 91 on the HM DCC app yet.. only electric is the Class 73 :( well, it'll be better than "chuff chuff chuff". I hope.
  3. But, if you pre-ordered through Hornby they honour the original price quoted...
  4. Oooh! Space for a sugar-cube speaker in the ndm! Whatever will they think of next!
  5. This is less of a faux Pas and is now considered to be done on purpose and has the rank of a 'standard' fetish...
  6. The joy in buying an airfix kit is in the 'building' it, yes? So if the kit requires more effort and time to build it's actually *better* value for money! Back when I was a lad(*), I used to balance out how much a model cost compared to how long that same amount of money would last buying drinks in the pub; especially if the model has some further use in a railway or gaming. So a kit that takes 4 hours to build is worth a Nights Out of beer, yes? You have to add to that the joy of making a kit you last put together in the '70s but with.. a few... years extra experience and skill.(**) (*) Of a callow 20 years (**) We won't mention the eyesight and fatter fingers, those don't count!
  7. But... I've already got *all* the wagons too... Now just need to decide what to use as a brake van... Maybe repaint a Bachmann Dance-Hall yellow!
  8. Oh, I want one! Someone please tell me it's only got three wheels...
  9. It's for developers who can't count. I've met a few, but I couldn't tell you how many...
  10. Not least that it can be tricky to take photos with one phone whilst controlling the layout with the same device! This is an ideal use for your "last phone" unless your "last phone" had a curly cable...
  11. It's the end with the driver in it! :)
  12. I fear that the clear paper is 'stuck on' due to *age* rather than design. Nominally the tissue paper flies away never to be found again, but occasionally it Sticks around..
  13. You didn't fancy a Hattonsjan one then? I know its only half price at the moment so you may consider that too much.
  14. If only the scales were vaguely compatible, a range of "battle-trains" in co-operation with Games Workshop's WH40K brand could fly off shelves(*); although whether GW would want to associate with a company as small as Hornby is another matter... (*) literally?
  15. You need to make a feature of the missing skylights in the platform - have a set of workmen with ladders and tool boxes fixing it! Or better still, standing about having a fag or cup of tea *not* fixing it...
  16. I like: The Queen Song, written by Bryan May: "flat-bottomed rail" No? Oh well.
  17. I wouldn't bank in that, this is a Kato project and I'm sure it was embarked upon based on expected sales in Japan. I can't see Bachmann's offering faring as well in the land of the rising sun as a Home Grown one. Kato always talk in production runs of 10,000+, not the paltry 1 or 2 thousand you may sell in the UK...
  18. Another vote for UHU from me, but it is *so* stringy I have to always do a String Location & Removal exercise.
  19. on the good news side, it should have the correct sounds already loaded and so would be 100% functional under normal DCC usage.
  20. No, no. 'back in the day' you were told to stop whinging about the smell and to get on with it...
  21. Hornby TT:120 point are 15 degrees - the geometry is different to OO.
  22. and/or: make the chicane after the tunnel the same as in Gran Turismo - a wall...
  23. I do feel that the original poster had it right, it's difficult to find a thread on "best biscuits"... And it may continue to stay that way unless this thread title is amended...
  24. Again: that paragon of biscuits, the wonder if wonders: the oh so humble digestive...
