Photos of AC electrics
08221 replied to cornish trains jez's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
86613 and 86632 passing Rugeley Trent Valley this morning working 4M45 Felixstowe to Garston, reported to be the final time 86’s will be on this working. -
I used to catch the 17:14/17:18 "Cobbler" Mk1 loco hauled service back from Euston to Bletchley every evening for several years. One evening we approached Bletchley without any hint of the brakes being applied. Driver finally realised, train stopped just north of the platform (next to the centre road where the OLE train used to stable). We all climbed down onto the trackside and walked back to the platform - happy days!

Hooks on the Canopy at Rowley Regis
08221 replied to wollastonblue's topic in UK Prototype Questions
I've worked in Blackheath for the last 7 years. Pre covid, my lunch walk was down to Rowley Regis station to see what was running. Often thought it would make an interesting model, especially with the old oil terminal. -

Here are a couple of photos of a Hornby class 66 motor bogie I've put into an old Lima class 31. You have to cut the sideframes off both sets of bogies, I then glued the class 31 sideframes onto the class 66 bogie frame with Devcon 5 minute epoxy - nice and strong joints! Take care, stay safe, well and happy.

Hornby TTS decoders always seem very popular and sell out quite quickly. I too was hoping for several of their diesel decoders to be rerun, I like the simplicity of their chips and the sounds meet my needs.

I’ve used PVA, works a treat -
Hi ADB. I’ve got a couple of the class 66 motor bogies and plan to do the same upgrades on a couple of Lima 31’s. Is there any chance of a photo of the bracket you made in step 3 please to assist me. Thanks in advance, stay safe and well.

The link goes to the replacement wagon wheelsets which are excellent. Peters Spares were also talking about doing replacement loco wheels - thats what has gone all quiet. I'm sure there would be a decent market for the loco wheelsets - along with a CD motor, a lot of decent locos could have a new lease of life!

I saw something very similar on the M5 heading north at junction 2 (Oldbury) one morning a couple of months ago. -
Some of them are old RES driving trailers and vans.

Rectory Lane - bringing an old OO layout back to life

Not posted on here for a few months - sorry! Here is 40012 passing 37293 during a running session earlier this evening. Take care, stay safe, well and happy! -
Remember the cold, wet evenings at Bletchley station when the 104’s were being sent down from Manchester to start replacing the Cravens 105’s. Their ‘greenhouse’ front windows and the wooden interior panelling immediately stood out - happy memories and so pleased I’ll now be able to recreate them in miniature.

Fantastic new, well done Heljan!

Is it DCC (fitted with a chip) or DC? -
I sealed my floor, laid laminated floor underlay and then laid a hard wearing carpet on top. Sealed up the garage door inside with breeze blocks, painted all the walls and with a small electric heater, the garage is perfect for my railway room all year round.

Hi, sorry for bringing this thread back to life. I’ve got a blue livered class 25/3. I have kept it in its box until recently. The cab end windows at both ends have gone opaque. The side windows are all clear as they should be. Has anyone else had this happen and does anyone have any ideas how to resolve it as I want to put it on display. Thanks in advance, stay safe, well and happy.
