  1. Morning Robert, To be fair, you logged a PayPal complaint, after refusing to simply use our excellent, free, return process. As the team clarified in your ticket of the 9th October last year, the chip you bought the previous may didn't include a cold start and the horn was recorded from the real thing. You then logged a PayPal complaint on the 7th November having made no further replies or contact with the team. Had you simply logged a return, replied to the team, got your free return label, we could have simply replaced the decoder for the version with cold start, or refunded you through our normal process.
  2. Our feeling is that disassembly is not routine maintenance, and if there is an issue, send it to us.
  3. For some direct comparison, here is our Irish Rail Unit in 3, 4, 6 car flavours, with our usual high spec, lighting, detailing, stay alive, etc, starting from £300 https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/railcar-class-22000-icr
  4. Unfortunately a few lads with missiles had other plans - though they are now nearly here
  5. Please don’t have a debate! If you have any issue with any model please reach out and get in touch. Without data how are we to improve?
  6. The Mk2 are in transit, in a container of their own. The 66 is due around quarter end.
  7. The coal load was always supposed to be in the accessory bag, when the first production models arrived with it glued in we corrected the error mid assembly.
  8. As we’ve stated a few times, you’ll find ‘ESU’ branding on the main PCBs as well as all the onboard IC’s are proprietary ESU technology. We have worked in close partnership with ESU since day 1 and they have designed the entire circuit. When ESU themselves configure the circuit, integrated circuits, programming and speaker wiring then it literally can’t be done any better but we have been working intensively with them on every individual case. To sound somewhat like a broken record if you have an issue please talk to us. Complaining on social media will simply frustrate rather than resolve and certainly won’t help inform us on what conditions and scenarios we might want to better cater for. HTh!
  9. To be fair to ESU, who designed the entire PCB, there were some component issues around the pandemic, which required some additional tweaking, but with over 18k 37's (ignoring the pretty much identically configured / installed IRM A Classes, 92's, Deltics etc, the incidence of both sound cut out or any such issues, is so small to be a rounding error compared to most manufacturers. It's just online, any issue becomes a self-reinforcing-echo. As repeatedly stated, we're delighted to assist anyone who needs any help with any accurascale model, or feature, our team are standing by with the experience, know how, skills, documentation, parts, replacements and support from ESU and others as needed. If anyone has any issue, it's literally what we're here to help with :)
  10. It arrives with the next run of 37’s which is scheduled to ship from our factory in about 8 weeks time.
  11. Controllers are most definitely a factor but my reply was to continue chatting to the team who are obviosuly best placed to provide meaningful support and insight. If the motor has already been replaced it does point to ‘something more’ being amiss. I’ve seen DC controllers put out 48v, attack ships on fire off the shoulder of orion, so we remain totally open to all issues and committed, repeatedly, to making all customers happy even if the issue is a small volume one, every customer matters.
  12. Inassume the team have already discussed with you the controller and track conditions that might be causing an issue? Otherwise the best advice will be to continue that discussion as there are too many variables at play (especially if the motor etc has already been replaced)

    Hornby Tier System

Delivered 37’s in run 1 was 18,000 units (so only 10k out ;) ) Run 2 will ship in about 8 weeks time.

    Hornby Tier System

Hi Les! We’re certainly open to any model shop that wants to stock us and earn great margins under great terms but we are only five years old and it takes time to build up a bank of repeat toolings.
  15. Our coach stay alives are designed for 10 seconds of lighting off power. Our locomotive and unit stay alives are designed for up to 10 seconds of all sound, motor under load and lights active. Obviously if you remove some of that power draw you will get more mileage but the super capacitors are optimal size and cost relative to the job they are asked to do (mainly prevent the loco stalling on dirt or poor sections or - arguably its primary function - the sound cutting out and restarting)
  16. It depends on the version of ESU chip you have (there were issues with components around the pandemic) as well as the sound project version. The 'easy' fix is to drop the max volume down to about 165 (from 190ish) and/or to allow the loco a moment on the powered track before activation of the sound, to allow the super capacitors time to charge up, before adding more current demands. As always, drop our wonderful support team a line (fb dm, message, live chat, email, sms) if you need any details.
  17. The functions are identical on both chips so the sheet covers both. Just on the silent chip the sound functions don’t do anything.
  18. We are closed currently for the holidays but the parts are in so drop us an email with the details and we can take care

  20. While under warranty, your recourse is to the provider of the goods. The retailer, commissioner, or outlet, can support you and / or replace the items as needed, and any models with issues will make their way to us in due course. Outside warranty, and where bought direct, you come to us for anything. Aside of support, we're always open to feedback, criticism and areas we might improve on, or photos, research, notes or anything else our wonderful customers feel might help us :) Hope that's clear!
  21. As above, no one is calling this maintenance, and indeed even trying to do so would void your warranty :) We've seen literally a handful of motor related returns, and based on shipped locomotives with the same motor now numbering in excess of 40k, there is nothing we are, or customers should be concerned about. That said, our support team are here to help, and can provide any repair, replacements or parts needed.
  22. We’d be very happy if anyone seeing any issues (motors or otherwise) would reach out to us, regardless where you bought the model, as the more feedback we can gather the better we can understand and improve the models as we move forward. Ultimately we believe a model should be for life (within reason) and are standing by to help however we can in that goal and who better placed to provide advice , assistance and parts than the people who made it :)
