  1. Defiance ordered thanks @Accurascale Fran for confirming at Warley that this was in your plans. A happy man now but much poorer ….thanks to Accurascale. Ps the tenuous link with Sir Edward Elgar probably was that he was a patron of the GWR catching the train from Worcester to Wolverhampton to watch his football team.
  2. For steam unrebuilt WC/ B of B 8F County 4-6-0 28xx Modern 323 319 321
  3. In a similar vein to the issue raised elsewhere about top feeds on panniers. Please can I request that the cab shutters are not integral mouldings, on the cab side, as not all of us want cab shutters on 45xx tanks.
  4. Its a vain hope but would be good if some of the 45xx were produced without cab shutters.
  5. Apologises if already mentioned up topic but I'd ordered a previously sold out class 92 from Rails. What is the update regarding class 92s on order from retailers, are they awaiting despatch/have been despatched ? Thanks Paul
  6. Again probably my mistake but I thought I’d read that the initial Wolverhampton series 4500-19 (2161-80) did initially have this 9” distance piece done this way. Maybe I read the word “beam” and/or confused it with this batch originally having wooden cab roofs as built, that were later changed. Of the next earlier batches the exceptions 4522, 4525 and 4539 didn’t have this distance piece but the neater curved rear valance. From 4555 onwards all received full length frames whereas 4530- had curved drop ends as built The 45xx s that retained square drop ends to the end I have as being : 4500, 03, 04, 07, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 25, 29
  7. The copper capped parallel chimneys were replaced on the 45xx s mainly from about the mid 1920s for cast iron slightly flared ones, when other refinements were made (shutters, extended bunkers, parallel buffers). The plating on the Dapol safety valves appears quite robust, too shiny for some but easily toned down if required. Other than pre WW1 days from photos I’ve seen the safety valves (s/v) on many 45xxs for the majority of their GWR days seem to have generally been painted, as per other secondary class loco. However I am sure I read somewhere that in GW days some individual locos, after a general overhaul, on return to their home sheds (with a painted s/v) had the paint unofficially removed from the s/v and polished up by enthusiastic crew/cleaners. Yes BR (W) did give some secondary exGW locos like the 45xx the full works of lining and polished safety valves for that short late period of time when cleaners were still available in sufficient numbers. Wishful thinking I know but, to have some variation to the Bachmann 45xxs, it would have been nice to see the Rapido ones depicted as ones from the early batches with the square drop footplate and bunker extension with timber packing out piece.
  8. Having a brass polished safety valve cover for much of a 44xx /45xx life would surely be an anachronism? Maybe early GWR or for some BR locos but I was led to believe the official policy was for them was to be painted. I was impressed by the finish Dapol applied to the safety valve cover on their 1920s O gauge 45xx 4549 which I don’t think is metal.
  9. But anyone looking for panelled * toplight coaches won’t be looking at a Dapol flush steel panelled one unless they are looking to source replacement etched sides. It all feels a bit like when Hornby introduced there improved GWR clerestory corridor coaches. It’s hard to be certain, seeing them under artificial light, but looking at the Dapol toplight city coaches I got the impression that the shade of GWR crimson lake is very different from that chosen on Kernow’s SRM. Until the production models are out this can’t be properly determined. *I was led to believe that the steel panelled toplights first started to appear in 1912?
  10. Similar for Howe it hit 3 cows near Scorrier, Cornwall 11/08/82.
  11. The 1912-1922 lake liveried examples number 85 & 93 is the lining gold or yellow? From the photos the lining looks yellow but maybe thats just the colour balance on my device.
  12. A GWR small metro tank, please as an early alternative to a 14xx tank.
  13. @rapidoandy Nice cameo appearance of Sheldon Cooper’s t shirt 😉 Bazinga!
  14. Nothing already available in the ModelU range then ? https://www.modelu3d.co.uk/product-category/finescale-figures/railway-and-lineside/1998-present-rl/
  15. I will be interesting to observe the YouTubers that are the “paid “ to promote Hornby and its TT range. Meanwhile back at the ranch!
  16. Out of interest how easy is it to separate the body from the chassis for these locos, if I was to considering repainting one ?
  17. A suggestion more pre grouping wagons 🙂 LNW MR GE LSW Cambrian
  18. Ratio (now Peco ) manufacture one https://peco-uk.com/products/gwr-lms-joint-loading-gauge
  19. My point was a simple observation that before locos were being produced without suitable coaches, hence the reasoning for the Genesis range. Now on the GWR side we have pre grouping liveried coaches without suitable period liveried locos. I doubt we will ever see a 36xx, more likely would be a Metro tank (large or small) or probably more likely again a saddle tank like a 2021. A 31xx/3111/ 3150 in Edwardian condition is still a fair way from a 41xx/5101/61xx both in outline, bunker, boiler and fittings, never mind a more complex pre grouping livery.
  20. Seems ironic* that as popular as the "GWR" Genesis coaches appear to be that this is the one "pre-grouping" company that has no suitable period rtr tank locomotives in a late Victorian/ Edwardian livery/ build. An almost similar situation applies to the forthcoming Dapol GWR coaches in the crimson lake livery 1912-1922. *for other pre-grouping companies if they had the locomotives it was the opposite they had no coaches at all
  21. Well there is an opening there, the Hornby unrebuilt one is showing its age.
  22. I have just been charged for H4-46Pack-101 Pack of 4 coaches (4BT, 4T, 6C123, 6BT) in GWR chocolate and cream & 1 * Hattons Originals H4-6BT-901C 6 wheel brake 3rd staff riding van in BR breakdown train red So yes they have arrived.
