  1. Unless someone disproves it, I would doubt that cutting brass on the Silhouette Cameo would work, or if it did it would ruin the cutter. You might get away with cutting brass shim, but 0.5mm brass sheet I would doubt it very much. Also Model Railroader has now caught up with the times - June 2014, pages 36-37 Using a digital craft cutter. (Apologies if this has already been highlighted). Dennis
  2. Am I missing the point here ? In the word "scrap" is there a redundant letter ? Dennis
  3. Not my area of interest, but a rather splendid piece of modelling, in both conception and execution. Allowing the young'uns to operate it might well get them involved in constructing models at a later time. All in all Glenn and Garry, a thoroughly worthwhile effort, both in modelling and in photographing. Thanks for that. Dennis
  4. Is it kit-built professionally weathered MIB condition in original box ? Dennis
  5. Not my particular area of interest, but looking at the photos an incredible amount of work has obviously gone into this, and the builder really must be congratulated. Dennis
  6. What is the matter with you lot ? 'Ampshire's the proper place to live, as most of us know ! Dennis
  7. It's not that you take an age, it's that you've been too busy teaching the rest of us how to use the Cameo ! Dennis
  8. My wife is not a model railway enthusiast, but when I showed her the photos (without comment) her question was "Where is that ?". A tribute to the quality and realism of the modelling on here. Dennis
  9. I seem to remember that "Express Models" (?) had a simulation of an arc welder which may be useful. Dennis
  10. Unfortunately the ignorant and stupid, like the poor, will always be with us. Unless of course they land jobs in the media or qualify for the Darwin awards. Dennis
  11. And superbly executed as well. Look at the first photo - did anyone look twice to make sure it was a model? Well done, sir ! Dennis
  12. And when it does re-open, perhaps those of us on the side lines or in our armchairs will raise a glass in thanks to all the fellows for all the efforts that have gone into Dawlish etc. Dennis
  13. It is a very nice layout, a pleasure to see - Thank you, sir ! Your English is NOT a low level, it is perfectly clear and intelligible, so no apology is required. I wish my French were as good as your English. Dennis
  14. On an email from ebay today -"Live customer support" - Does this mean they discriminate against dead ones ? Dennis
  15. O,gawd I thought for a moment we were going to get Phil@36E as a part work. Feel relieved now. (Only joking, Phil) Dennis
  16. Why all the fuss about the weather ? One of our local TV dealers is offering "sky Repairs" - Problem solved ? Dennis
  17. Most local paper journalists appear to have problems reporting anything more complicated than a dog show or an outbreak of cycle thefts. Dennis
  18. Ain't hindsight wonderful, especially through rose tinted (beer?) glasses. Some of the opinions expressed appear to be from know(sod)alls. I'll read CKs opinions and believe them anytime, because he and the rest of the poor sods are actually out there doing something, not sitting and expressing often dubious views. Dennis
  19. Rant - Trouble is there are far too many interfering busybodies on the loose. If English Heritage and their cronies had their way, we would still be living in wattle and daub huts, with holes in the roof to let the smoke out, providing of course environmental considerations were met. Perhaps the government should take emergency powers that override any environmental considerations, and tell the Europrats and associated aholes in this country to get stuffed, we are doing what is required for people to live reasonably, so piss off and count the bats in your belfry. Rant over ! (subject to amendment by the mods) Dennis
  20. Gentlemen, Can we stop getting out of our prams over this ? As has been pointed out, there is a great deal of hardship and suffering (and by no means over) being endured by people in the Southwest and Wales. Punch and Judy points scoring does nothing for them nor for anyone, so can we restrict the discussion to considered opinions ? That way, we will all win. Dennis
  21. Meanwhile, (perhaps slightly OT), can I put in a word of sympathy for the poor sods who will have to work in probably appalling conditions to sort out the mess. A chain gang of H&S staff ? What a delicious thought. Dennis
  22. Women driver runs over a fellow and rushes over to him. Woman - "Are you hurt?" Fellow - "Why ? Do you want to have another try ?" Dennis
  23. Just watching the BBC lunchtime news. Usual inane question from a journalist to an NR engineer, looking at the washed away foundations - "How long is it going to take to repair ?". With another inane journo parroting "4 to 6 weeks to repair". When the storms finally abate we will no doubt be informed accordingly, or perhaps it will have faded from the media, while they hype up something else. Dennis
  24. Of course - as I am a paragon of propriety it has hardly any use at all - that's my story and I'm sticking to it ! Dennis
  25. As I do not possess a camera, narrative description will have to suffice. A block of 3x1, with more holes than a Swiss cheese, for holding items while painting them by putting screws in it. A chopper like Chubbers, with a couple of M3 bolts to hold Stanley knife blades by the cut outs at the top of the blade, for chopping. An Amati cutter for cutting strip at various angles. A small swear box. Dennis
