  1. Hi Mozzer, you know, lets see how well the Golden Arrow Duke of Gloucester Caprotti valve gear lines up with a standard 5 - might have a go at the Crosti 5 next
  2. Loco body all lined out and I've picked out some of the pipework in very much the same way as Hornby do on their current Britannias - although I've used a light grey for the lagging rather than white. I think this looks more subtle. Yes, this is the deflector that got superglue over it and needed rubbing back and respraying as revealed on one of my status updates Those Narrow Planet plates do look the dogs And finally, a quick shot of the cab showing the cream roof and a few details picked out ready for a crew to be installed
  3. fitting nameplates to deflectors, dropped plate in wrong place and got superglue all over the thing :( rubbed back and resprayed, now drying on the radiator .....

  9. Visited our Rail Grinder UK2 at Nuneaton today, only to see one of our MP Stoneblowers pass the station on it's way to Bromsgrove :)

  10. HMRS Pressfix. I do possess a Bob Moore lining pen but decided not to try it out for the first time on this job
  11. Tender is now lined out, just needs plates and a waft of satin black, unless I decide to do the yellow axleboxes ....
  12. fitted a TCS-Z2 chip to an old Triang Rocket last night, runs pretty well for an old 'un and plenty of scope for cv tweaking yet. Now, will the body fit back on ;)

and John @ Bromsgrove has kindly supplied me with some CVs to start with - top service as ever :)

  13. the other side of the tender is already done
  14. ANOTHER X04 motor refurbished over the weekend - I'll have to get another batch of rewinds done at this rate ;)

Ever considered modifying one to see if you can produce a skewed 5-pole?

  15. I've had a few requests to see the 2-8-2 in unlined "as built" black, so in homage to Hornby's latest Britannia offering here's 91000 before lining out and naming Keen eyes will observe the digitally removed cylinder lining and the fact that the return crank is not actually soldered to the crankpin
  16. Now back down to £18.60, previous winning bidders £70 bid has been cancelled - methinks eBay might have smelt a rat
  17. That aside, why would any genuine bidder want to pay 70 quid for a non runner?
  18. maybe folks should wait until this afternoon before further comment No sign of an ariel on the cad here
  19. is wondering where Andy Y's April fool is ......

  20. Well spotted - G King suggested an initial photo shoot with it in unlined black but the cylinders are already lined and waiting varnish B)
  21. Continuing the series of photos of blackness - here's the chassis so far. Cylinders are also painted but will be lined and varnished before the masking is removed. now where's that pressfix .....
  22. he was so proud of it too .....
  23. chassis stripped, soaked in Cillit Bang! and now drying on the radiator, grey primer at lunchtime :)

I hope it is still there. "Cillit Bang! and it's gone..."

  24. Didn't get much chance to do some modelling last night, but did get some paint on the Narrow Planet plates Just got to seperate them from the etch without damage now I did try to get the shed and number plates with white lettering by painting them white first then black and wiping off. Sadly this didn't happen for me. Looking at the loco the build plates will need to go on before the deflectors.
  25. First time that body you gave me has been black too!
