  1. Arrgh! - One answer to get in The Telegraph crossword and I'm stumped! - Was feeling very intelligent too!

  2. Oh, and Scotland have sacked Craig Levein. My application goes in tomorrow
  3. I see there's (yet) another rugby good, football bad article on the BBC Website today; http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/20207113 Odd choice of days to release it though when you read Brian Moore's column in the Telegraph! - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/club/9654856/Rugby-must-cut-out-the-backchat-before-it-is-too-late-or-criticisms-of-referees-could-lead-to-insubordination.html
  4. And there goes another weekend! - Still, early finish tomorrow - another chance to get that shelf up!

  5. Wonderful day at the Bluebell! - Charlie loved it too, I think he touched every wheel in the loco shed!

  6. What I'd also add is that my model does not like the cheapo Hornby decoder I bought for it, so it is out of service until I can either get another chip or find a DC controller for the lounge plank - worth bearing in mind if anyone is wondering what chip to put in!
  7. At some point. Worth noting that it is the first time I've ever painted anything other than a building or wagon kit - I used the Chris Nevard guide to detailing the Sentinel which was featured in MR sometime last year, but left the handrails the same as they were originally.
  8. Indeed, I wanted the same, so bought the Irish one, and sprayed it black. Painted the bufferbeams by hand (and yes I know there is a tad of red on the chassis in this pic, it's gone now!) Dead simple job.
  9. I've been looking on ebay for some of the old Hornby 'train set, household brand' style wagons for our (mine and the boy) new project - Jif Lemon, Red Arrows, 7-Up etc. As part of my search, I came across this. Judging by the price of this, and the amount of bidders, I can only assume Hornby sold about 12 of these and sealed the rest, Atari ET-style, in a landfill site....!
  10. First 4 and a half months of marriage successfully completed, first 3 months of pregnancy (by the wife, not me!) completed - and a burning desire to get the modelling gear back out :)

Funny how this status appeared just above my one about coupling rods ;-)

Cheers all :) - We are both very happy!

Rather than jumping straight back into the shed, I'm going to take advantage of something that was mentioned a while ago and fill the alcove above my PC with a small shelf shunting plank, using stuff which I have kicking around primarily.

  13. Just to add my twopennyworth, and much the same as others, I found this incredibly inspiring. Also, a tip for others - Wickes have a permanent 'buy one, get one free' on tester pots of emulsion. Very useful for 'cheap modelling' of all kinds - you can use it as base cover, primer... - at only £1.35 for two, it's a bargain.
  14. As far as I'm concerned he was the best centre back in England of his generation. Magnificent reader of the game, strong in the tackle and a real rallying point for the rest of the side. Great shame he's had to retire.
  15. If you are missing your football fix, may I suggest http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_shropshire TNS v Helsingborgs in the Champions League 2nd Round Qualifyer First Leg. 0-0 HT.
  16. One thing to note if you are feeling pedantic is that the last coach before the DBSO was the smoking carriage for standard class (until roughly 18 months before the smoking ban, at least) - so remove any non-smoking decals on the windows/doors!
  17. http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/details.php?id=39&vis=2 Pictures have arrived on the Bachmann website.
  18. The season countdown can begin - the FA Cup & Vase draws are out today \o/ Hailsham host Greenwich Borough (Ian Wright's first club!) in the Extra Preliminary Round. I do know who we'd face after that, but seeing as we haven't won an EP Round game for 5 years now, I'm not even going to mention it. Arundel at home in the Vase. Winable.
  19. Birthday number 28 celebrated with a trip to the garden centre, model shop and transport cafe. Rock N Roll!

As long as your happy that's the main thing. Birthdays are the one day of the year where it's all about you. Me & SWMBO always make a fuss of one another .

  20. Best Germany v Greece game? - Well, I do remember one... Germany started favourites in that game as well, but were beaten by a controversial last-minute headed goal from Socrates. The goal was hotly disputed by the Germans, with Hegel arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx claimed it was offside.

What are you doing on here, though? Have you nothing better to do?

Please spare us the details, however....

  22. \o/ A bonus for successfully completing my first 6 months in the job. With most of the wedding stuff paid for, maybe now Horsebridge will get a loco to operate on it!

  23. I can't find a picture, but I see it every day and every day I think it looks just like a model... On the East Coastway line, heading out of Glynde towards Lewes, if you look out of the window before you get to the Beddingham bridge, there is low-lying land near the river Ouse. Most of it is very green and very short grass - but there are then loads of clumps, which look just like randomly applied clumps of Silflor. Sometimes there are cows too which just enhances the effect further.
