  1. This just looks like fun. I'm going to do it anyway! Alastair
  2. Thank you for putting this topic up josh-will and good luck with your project. Does anybody know if these older B12s (as compared to the excellent brand spanking newish Hornby product) were basically dimensionally accurate? Are they a suitable subject for an uprating job? I hope you don't mind me using your thread........ Best wishes, Alastair
  3. Lots of great designs, but B12 for me too. Alastair
  4. To my untutored eye that looks really very good. I have a Mousa Models o4/7 boiler awaiting installation on a donor. Though I am very happy with it, your smokebox door looks very clean indeed in comparison. Best wishes, Alastair
  5. That van is superb Mikkel. Alastair M
  6. I am biased obviously, but the period 1 coaches look much more the ticket to my eye John. Lovely. Best wishes, Alastair
  7. I too would like to say J11, but the O4 sweeps all before it, so it's O4 for me too. Regards, Alastair
  8. The vessel in that first shot is a Liberty ship. As a child I was taken on board one in Manchester docks with my Dad, whose best friend was of Greek origin and alegedly was related to the owner. Thank you very much for posting these photos. Best wishes, Alastair M
  9. Another vote for Woodhead. Alastair M
  10. Tough one this - both 6A and 6C are worthy candidates as are 9D and 9Hs - J10 under LNER and BR ownership, but I'm plumping for 6C (later J12), known to their owners as Bulldogs. It is alleged that they were only withdrawn because of the large number of RODs the LNER had bought, but magnificent Victorian outside framed 0-6-0s and we certainly don't have many of those kicking about, Cheers, Alastair
  11. John, 'But I'm now wondering if they are a bit too 'modern' for this type of service and whether I should have got a couple of the old Mainline/Bachmann period 1 vehicles instead.' I am only going on "GWR in the 1930s" vols 1 & 2 and numerous mag articles, but I tend to agree with you John. I don't recall seeing pictures of uniform P3 rakes included in these trains - they seem to always be made up of whatever came to hand and whatever was attached from connecting services, thus P1 and later P2 vehicles, mixed in with ex-LNWR and occasionally ex-Midland vehicles seemed the 'norm'' through the 1930s. Those Staniers look great though! Best wishes, Alastair
  12. John, I have two sets of these, one of which is definitely complete, the other of which I am not quite sure about. I have messaged you and if you would like to discuss further, please get in touch, Best wishes, Alastair
  13. Nick, yes, should have said that the text was easily identifiable as originating with my GP. Alastair
  14. It is not the case that everyone receives a letter in the post. I live in South London. Last night I received a text with a link in it, inviting me to book my vaccination. I did so. I am now back home after booking an appointment for this morning. The whole process was smooth and speedy. Regards, Alastair
  15. They look cracking John. So good to see them built and running. Alastair
  16. Is that Frogmore based E82 John? Whatever it is, it looks just right, Best wishes, Alastair
  17. Your twin-set is a luscious looking thing Gilbert. Wonderful, Best wishes Alastair
