But the 8f was a great engine......

  8. I am pretty sure the Porthgain Railway had one loco at harbour level and one working traffic from the quarry to the chutes; at various times they owned three locos at least. I will try and find my book on the system.

  13. J11, Pom Pom, call it what you will, a superb all-rounder. Although some of their later work was not taxing, in their prime they tackled heavy freight, passenger etc. and were fitted with water scoop tenders for work on long distance jobs. 1901 - 1962. Alastair M

  16. The shot of Sandwich snaking out of PE with a long train of mainly blood and custard coaches is a glorious and for me, unashamedly nostalgic reminder, of just how wonderful our railways used to look. Gilbert, I salute you! Best wishes one and all, Alastair
