  1. I agree that most of the 37s I saw on the WHL did not display faded paintwork. However, in this 37112 displays some fading/streaking paintwork at Fort William in 1984.
  2. I've used this glue in the past. Works well for a while but then then then the metal 'tube' always becomes blocked and you have to remove it.
  3. Ardlui looks great. The weathering on 37039 looks spot on. Just like how it was when I saw it at Ardlui.
  4. On Ian 's latest version, 'Lochty Lane' the spur is long enough to take one loco. Locos are simply shuffled on and off the layout. Not one of my favourite Futers layouts. I prefer the 4mm version of 'Lochside' which started my interest in modern image modelling.
  5. I remember seeing 'Cold Harbour Lane' at a local exhibition in the North East. One of his early forays into 7mm. As it featured some J27s, it very much reminded me of South Blyth shed.
  6. I used Railmatch enamel to repaint these Hornby OTAs and very pleased with the results.
  7. I've followed this thread since the beginning and now glad that I didn't pre-order. Sadly, too many issues with the sound fitted models for me to buy one. I'm sure there are plenty of happy buyers, but it seems like 'pot luck' whether or not you receive a 'good 'un'.
  8. Accurail still make kits. Roundhouse are now part of the Athearn RTR range. https://www.accurail.com/accurail/
  9. In stock at Hattons. Ordered one today and just noticed that the Railfreight red/grey ones are offered with either 2 or 3 painted red planks.
  10. Ok. In that case the weathering looks very light and makes a good basis for further weathering. I'll defiantly be ordering one. It looks great.
  11. Amazon are now showing the release date as 31st March 2024. Looking forward to this book.
  12. Don't think it's weathered, just light reflection from the glass cabinet.
  13. I remember phoning Phil and placing an order for 25324 when it was first announced. He took my credit card details but no deposit. I did not receive an order confirmation by e-mail but subsequently have received updates/newsletters by e-mail.
  14. A couple of pics showing the entire scenic portion of the layout.
  15. The 'forum contributor' was Lees Locos. Although he now mainly concentrates on 0 gauge, he may still have some 00 headlamps available. http://www.leeslocos.co.uk/ Here is my photo of 37017 at Inverness.
  16. First video of Humboldt featuring a short ops session. Enjoy!
  17. Having very much enjoyed the 'Small layout design handbook', I duly ordered 'The Art of Railway Modelling' which I received this morning as a birthday present. As a builder of small layouts (both UK and US) this book shows how immersive small layouts can be. I've only looked at the excellent photos so far, and look forward to reading the text. Here is a photo of my recently completed small US HO layout - 'Humboldt'
  18. Finished off the grass/weeds between the tracks to give an overgrown look.
  19. I've been working on the small Transload area, which mainly receives steel pipes in gondolas although the occasional boxcar may turn up.
  20. Added more greenery and a sea-moss tree line this week. Also tried out a new grass mat from Dutch manufacturer 'Lars Op't Hof Scenery. Very pleased with the results.
  21. I've started to add some greenery between the tracks using grass tufts and static grass.
  22. I checked this morning and it wasn't working. Checked again just now and glad to see it's working again. A valuable resource for US modellers, I hope it continues. Perhaps there is some sort of intermittent fault.
  23. Thanks for the info. Cargill looks like a good choice. I wasn't aware they received covered hoppers. I've changed the layout name to Humboldt as the Humboldt Industrial Park was the original inspiration for the layout.
  24. Progress update. Track painted and ballasted and a few weed have begun to appear.
