    Excellent photograph at Guisborough
  2. They aren't keen on photography in the works. Last time I was in there the branch up to the works was massively overgrown despite it still being open. Lucky for us East Midlands were on strike so rather than propelling out we drove out then propelled round to warsop and went north via the North curve

Harry is an absolute mine of information, he remembers firing E4s on the stainmoor line. I used to love secondmaning him as we always had a good chat. He was also one of the few drivers to drive Mallard in the 80s

I probably would have known him. It may have been Harry Clark he's always been interested in the job. He's getting on a bit now but I received a Christmas card from him last year

Who was the West Auckland driver Porcy?
  6. The railway police have never done speed checks it was the traction inspectors that did it. I'm not sure if many companies still do checks, but since it's now mandatory for traction units to have OTMR data recorders these are now downloaded to check for speeding
  7. Interesting to see headcodes in use at such late dates? It always puzzled me the 312s were built with headcodes at all. Even 313s and 315s had miniature headcode displays
  8. Great set of pictures David, why does the NYMR insist on using propelling lamps as headlamps, they are too big and really spoil some excellent pictures
  9. Excellent again, I didn't realise Felixstowe beach was so complete so late. It looks like it may have been shunters accommodation in 75
  10. They should start on the second short set tomorrow
  11. That doesn't look like it's ever been double track, although the bridge is obviously built for it. I think the bridge looks GE
  12. There doesn't seem to be any evidence of scrap in the picture, but we don't know what is behind the photographer
  13. What is quite remarkable is they kept the same styling up to this year when what was hopefully the last 66 was built. This would have been the equivalent of the class 60 having class 31 cabs as that was 30 years before it
  14. Only one loco is powered up , they have to turn round at the coast in the same times as a DMU
  15. 908 is Aldeby on the old beccles to Yarmouth line. Aldeby was kept open for sugar beet until 65, after this picture was taken the line beyond the buffer stops in the picture was lifted and truncated with stops opposite the one in the siding. It's interesting what they have done there as the points to the siding would have been from the lifted line and a diamond where the points are shown in the picture
  16. Love the pictures of Appledore, was it still double track to Rye back then? Interesting that it's only a disc signal for the Lydd/ Dungeness branch
  17. I hope it's better than railroad Alaska , that was pretty naff, not only as said above the staged scenarios but also some of the staff being told to over act everything they do. In the first series there was a trainman called animal, if I had a guard shouting and banging on like him, I'd make him sit in another cab!
  18. You'll struggle to find a genuine BR one, and some were very badly abused. If you are looking for a Sherpa this looks like a good starting point as there are very very few left especially in yellow. Shame the listing doesn't give more details such as engine type. Go for it....
  19. Clutching at straws again, Reepham before it was relayed to Themelthorpe ?
  20. Bit of a long shot, could this be Eye brickworks on the truncated M&GN?
