I am in full agreement, Rails US HO scale second hand is very reasonably priced and I have often had success with making offers (got the thick end of fifteen quid off a SP Tunnel Motor just this morning) but I would not go anywhere near them for UK outline stock. One trick with making them an offer is to see when it was first listed, it seems if it is been hanging around a long time (the Tunnel Motor was first listed in March for example) they seem more amenable to a decent discount presumably to shift it.

Ruffnut Thorston
Rails does it again! Wrong! 🤷🏼♀️ Not the original box for this wagon, by a looong time. The chassis is likely the Wrenn version of the last Hornby Dublo "Open Brake Gear" cast metal chassis, that has a hand brake handle. The original Hornby Dublo cast metal chassis, with a web behind the brake gear, has no hand brake handle at all. The wagon has the Tri-ang Hornby MK3 couplings...as used by Wrenn... But I'm not sure about the Disk wheels... (Rails Photo...they have something on the lens causing a black mark!) So most likely a Wrenn issue. The box, on the other hand is a Hornby Dublo pre 1964, less common overstickered "Export" label box. .(Rails Photo...they have something on the lens causing a black mark!) The difference between the UK and Export models being that the Peco type couplings on UK issues are attached with rivets, whereas the Export models have the coupling attached by a machine screw. A case where the box is possibly more desirable to a collector than the wagon! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-SD6-4865-SAXA-SALT-WAGON-/133830706029 Apart from some wagons that were put together from Wrenn parts from Basildon, and sold in Wrenn boxes, Dapol produced three series of wagons based on the Wrenn versions of the Hornby Dublo wagons:- WR1 Series: Original Wrenn Basildon produced and printed body. Wrenn type Die Cast Chassis. Dapol plastic wheels. Dapol plastic couplings. Dapol wagon box. WR2 Series: Original Wrenn Basildon produced and printed body. Dapol Plastic Chassis. Dapol plastic wheels. Dapol plastic couplings. Dapol wagon box. WR3 series: Dapol produced and printed body. Dapol Plastic Chassis. Dapol plastic wheels. Dapol plastic couplings. Dapol wagon box. https://www.hattons.co.uk/228120/dapol_wr3_01_u_wrenn_range_salt_wagon_saxa_pre_owned_imperfect_box/stockdetail After the sale of the Wrenn company, Dapol continued to make wagons based on the original Hornby Dublo SD6 body tooling. Not surprisingly, confusion reigns, wether by accident or intention to deceive... With Hornby Dublo, Wrenn, and Dapol using the same tooling... And Dapol issuing various types of chassis, from old stock cast metal Wrenn chassis, through to their latest NEM coupling equipped moulded plastic chassis, all with the HD SD6 body tooling. 🤔 🐉🙋🏼♀️ Heavily edited to correct my mistake, in thinking that all of the Hornby Dublo (and therefore Wrenn) diecast chassis had no hand brake handles... The last type of Hornby Dublo diecast chassis, with the open brake gear does in fact have hand brake handles! 🤷🏼♀️ Edited May 30, 2022 by Ruffnut Thorston Corrections and additions 5
