A handful from the last few days.

After rescuing 70801 on 24th May 2022, Colas 66850 has stuck around in the area and worked 6M32/6E32 solo on 26th May 2022 - approaching Brighouse through persistent drizzle with 6E32.

It's apparently still in the area and has worked 6M32/6E32 again on 30th May.

With weekend work continuing on the lines north of Manchester around the junctions between Miles Platting and Stalybridge, an assortment of GBRf 66s handled some of the associated engineers' trains.

Heading up 6G65 on 28th May from Crewe Basford Hall to Brewery Junction, GBRf 66766 approaching Brighouse...

Its attendance at the worksite completed on 29th May, GBRf 66765 at Colne Bridge with 6G64 working from Ashton-under-Lyne to Doncaster Up Decoy Yard.

Freightliner were also involved with engineering work, this time along the Calder Valley.  On 29th May 2022 66566 leads 6Y33 Greetland Junction to Doncaster Up Decoy Yard, via Blackburn for the loco to run-round.

The consist also included some of the recently introduced MLA wagons leased from Wascosa.

Pics of the "new" 66734 starting to emerge. Complete with what appears to a vinyl ("printed on" style) nameplate. (Makes it easy for Horny to do!!)

Cheers,

Phil.

Crikey, 66734's not a looker is it!? I do like the fact it's applied in the standard style though, just in different colours. More customer / one off liveries would benefit from thos approach in my opinion.

@Phil Mc, any links to 47580 please? Not seen owt yet

None that I have copyright to show you !

Agree about the different colours in the 'house' style on the 66, I think this one will grow on me....

Cheers,

Phil.

I was there with me Littleboy when it came into the station. Certainly made an impression. Personally I think it seems to suit the Class well. Arlington done a brilliant job with this. Just waiting for the cast Nameplates now.

Saw it in the flesh today, not grown on me. Pic and caption linked from my Flickr.

Smell that paint

Not my cup of tea, but a topical subject and not often you get a loco this fresh! Stabled in Westbury Down Yard, 66734 in platinum jubilee livery arrived last night as 0V30 from Eastleigh,  before going forward to Cardiff Tidal today as 0Z34. I'm not keen on the colours, but I like the fact it's got the standard livery colour breaks. I think more customer and commemorative liveries could do with being applied standard in corporate styles but alternative colours. The Drax 60 and ONE 66 do this well. Any operators want a livery designing, get in touch... ;-)

A question for the more wise than me . Today while at chesterfield GBRF class 66769 came through the station with a DB class 66 dead in train behind the loco it was in well worn EWS but de-branded condition something obscured the number i am not sure if its oil thrown from the power unit or light fire damage can anyone shed some light on it for me and suggest the number i think it was 66156 but cant be sure ?. Thanks in advances . I have added zoomed in images of the locomotive in question .

Not sure why it’s in that condition, other than just the normal external state of a few of DB Cargo’s 66s that remain in the base EWS as delivered livery, but according to a TOPS list it was 66156 that you observed with 66769.

The working was 6X01, Scunthorpe Trent to Eastleigh East Yard.  Would have passed you in Chesterfield around 12.15pm.

I hope that helps a bit.

156 had a collision a few years ago, patch painted and then had the EWS stickers for the UK repaints applied for the numbers on this side only, which are smaller that the painted numbers from the factory.

Looking at recent photos, it's just exhaust soot covering the number as far as I can see, very heavy but thats all. Maybe one of the more smokey 66s?

66731, in its special NHS livery and name commemorating Captain Sir Tom Moore, was rostered for today's engineer's circuit between Bescot and Toton, seen here at Barrow on Trent:

Thanks,
