  1. With the desire to be entertained as opposed to modelling last night I decided to "binge watch" the remaining episodes of Around the World In 80 Days using the iPlayer.

    I must say I wasn't disappointed.

The BBC certainly produced a programme worth watching in my opinion and more than made up for the dross which has been aired over the festive period. The whole cast were believable to my eyes and carried their parts off well.

Boys own stuff with an underlying message too.

    Great stuff !

We are enjoying it too, but are probably going to wait for the due broadcast dates for the remaining episodes.

Agree it’s entertaining and different from the usual    garbage that insults the intelligence.

Is it primarily a Beeb production though ? I see in the credits much French and USA input. Also appears that much of it was filmed on location in South Africa..Whatever..doesn’t really matter does it. Far fetched but then so was Jules Verne . Good to enjoy watching a fine cast and great cinematography.

The BBC won't be satisfied until they've righted all the wrongs of your childhood memories. Have fun, or defund.

@KDG  I suspect it's just a matter of personal sense of humour. I think the special format is always going to suffer from having to stand alone as a story, which means that the plot has to be relatively simple. At the same time, the audience is probably more 'general' than for a full series - which could incentivise the use of a relatively 'safe' formula, trying to get a few laughs out of people, and hoping that they take enough of a liking to the characters that they come back for the main series. I think this is exactly what yesterday's programme tried to do, but of course if the 'groundhog day' format and slightly bizarre visual humour don't appeal to you then I can see why you wouldn't be interested.

"slightly bizarre visual humour don't appeal to you then I can see why you wouldn't be interested."

As a dyed in the wool Monty Python "enthusiast" then I can normally accept bizarre visual humour but I think this particular programme was so far fetched my senses were getting inflamed to the point of switching off. A remote control device saved my evening and also alerted my to carry on doing something more worthwhile.......modelling.

Whilst I appreciate we are currently facing difficult times I feel sure not only Auntie Beeb and other channels take some of the viewers for granted and will air any old trash / repeats and I for one find it rather insulting.

Now where did I put that bottle of port ? Hic !

p.s. The new version of Around the World in 80 Days currently being aired is more in line with what I would expect from a major broadcasting company happily taking my monies.

  3. Whilst I understand why ads are used on this site I am now getting a banner ad too on the top of my screen which is slowly becoming a real pain having to scroll up and down to access the content. Just an unnecessary nuisance !

Can I ask why this has suddenly happened please ?

FB is awful. There is a group called Illiterate  Britain. The examples are quite shocking.

Also the vile and filthy hate on so many sites is appalling and how FB leave it there baffles me. I call a far right thig a and puff, 30 day ban within seconds. Next time I shall call them a ####ing Nazi #### and make it worth it.

  9. Like so many Grandparents today I will be celebrating my grandson's birthday today. 3 years seem to have flown by and we have always been in contact throughout that time, he's my Best Little Mate.

Today will be a strange time for us to communicate and celebrate in the best way we can together and with the difficulties it presents will be challenging.

Not the same giving him his card through the letterbox, but I have seen his Brio layout ALL over his sitting room floor and I look forward to the time we can both play with it again together.

My heart goes out to ALL Grandparents in these awful times.

You have my sympathy Grahame. As you know, my seven grandchildren are all on the other side of the world and I've never been with any of them face-to-face on their birthdays, so your current situation is very familiar to me. That doesn't make it any better though.

When you do get to play with the Brio, just watch your knees and don't step on any of the pointwork...

Thank you St.E I fully understand you're situation and hope that one day you'll see them one way or another.

  10. Following the "Software Upgrade " this afternoonI can only see two-thirds of content on my screen ( left to right ) with the remainder taken up with a white blank area.

May I ask if this will this be the final format ? ( Hopefully not )
