  1. A Möbius strip walks into a bar, sobbing. The bartender asks, „What’s wrong, buddy?“ The Möbius strip replies, „Where do I even begin?“

You'll only get one side of the story, though.

  2. Anyone heard from @Miss Prism lately.

  3. Oh the joy of implied statements of fact or caution' expressed without any actual full research...

Just because one hasn't seen something doesn't necessarily mean it didn't exist...

Happy Sunday and now I'm off on my holibobs.

I'm not convinced that thinking you've seen something proves it exists, either.

Most recently on RMWeb on 24 April. Somewhat concerning.

  6. Ian, I have tried to track down your image of a GW Sheet, referenced again recently in Compound2632 's "pre-grouping-wagons-in-4mm-the-d299-appreciation-thread" but, unhappily, it seems to have been lost in the RMWeb crash. Is there any chance you could put it back up again? I and, I am sure, many others would be very grateful.

    Thanks, Nigel Newling

Thanks for that Ian - I never had the earlier version with the angel's wing before and it's more appropriate to my c. 1902 date, I believe.

I have the relevant images adjusted to 4 mm scale, including a gallery of cut-and-paste digits, as jpeg files. These were manipulated from a download of Ian's original artwork and all done without his permission, so I would be reluctant to make them available. I use CorelDraw to assemble the sheet image but this could be done in, say, Word, although that would be more tedious.

  8. has had his evening spoiled by the God-awful shouting man on the inevitable bank holiday setee adverts! Such a con with all the 'reductions'🤢

    1. Compound2632

      Compound2632

There are no flies on these advertisers, you know. The psychology runs roughly as follows: you are sitting on your setee watching the ad. Your irritation with the ad leads to a sense of discomfort. To alleviate this discomfort, you replace your setee. It's a version of the shoe event horizon scenario.

I'm not the one offended; those who were offering genuine expertise might justly be. I think you misjudged the tone of your post.

You don't know what expertise other posters actually have. There may be some who are qualified to comment authoritatively, others who are not; you've condemned them all with one sweeping statement; it is that, I think, that gives offence.

  16. Why the heck is anyone thinking about a return of imperial measurements for shops?

Anyone else think this is a recipe for profiteering on customers by mixing styles on price per.

    1. Compound2632

Imperial units do not, and have not for a very long time, form a system of units independent of the SI.

      By definition, 1 yard = 0.9144 m.

Once she's crawling, you want the ELC Happyland Train. Here's an unboxing video:

twenty or more years ago, we had two sets, including points and a diamond (well, square) crossing. It could be set up with two trains circulating in opposite directions on a dog-bone layout with passing loop. With care, it could run for ages without a collision! You can probably get extra track or complete sets second-hand.
