  1. Your experiments with the LZV100 concur with mine. Pity about the 2-digit/short addressing as I'm up for 5-6 of the dongles to replace the handsets on mine and the club layouts. Both use LZV 100s.
  2. NCE have two types of consisting, advanced and old. With "old" you can only have two locos and the actual pairing is done in the controller. Advanced sets a CV on the loco and two or more can be controlled together. Lenz is the same, but they call them DH for double head and MU for two locos or more. Don't know about other systems. In advanced/MU mode, you can set CVs on the decoders as to which functions are controlled with F keys. I.e. a single F key will change all locos. But, in both types of consisting, you if you have directional headlights, you need to have the ability to turn off the "inner" set of headlights. Reversing can be a pain, lots of keys to press. As I use my Caz with a dedicated 37, I've isolated the inner lights on both. ( tape over contacts) and called them the same address. Change direction ant the "outer" lights of the 37 and saloon changeover. No messing with extra F keys.
  3. Hi Tony, Thanks, so i't probably something I'm missing. I know the loco works on a long address as I currently have a Multimaus handset plugged in - and I've cross-checked operation of the loco with a Powercab on my test bench. I haven't checked the higher F-key functions yet - just trying to get it to work with long addresses.
  4. I've just set up my dongle with a Lenz system. It seems to run short addresses Ok, but not long addresses. I've confirmed the operation of a particular loco by giving it a short address - I used 100 - and assigning that to the dongle - it works. Give the loco a long address e.g. 1111 and assign to dongle - doesn't work. Am I missing something simple on a setup? I have "Elite" selected as the DCC controller type Lenz system is a LZV100 Can't remember what s/w version it is (haven't got my LH100 to hand to check it) , but it was upgraded when my handsets were upgraded to v3.6
  5. I have a nut allergy, so I could only view. Dons flameproof suit. I'm not a cake lover anyway.
  6. Just for the cake lovers.... (I think there's the odd one or two out there) Whilst on holiday, it was Mrs NB's birthday, so the opportunity was taken by myself and Junior NB (whilst having a day out on the Dubai Metro.....) to purchase some cakes for her. These took a bit of protecting during the rush hour crowds....
  7. A baby polar bear comes home from school and asks his mother if he’s really a polar bear. Mom says, “Of course you are, honey! Now go do your homework before we have dinner.” The next day, the baby polar bear comes home from school and asks his grandfather if he’s really a polar bear. Grandpa says, “Of course you are, kiddo! Now go do your homework before we have dinner.” The third day, the baby polar bear comes home from school and asks his grandmother if he’s really a polar bear. Grandma says, “Of course you are, sweetie! Now go do your homework before we have dinner.” On the fourth day, the baby polar bear comes home from school and asks his father if he’s really a polar bear. Dad raises his voice as he responds, “Wait a minute. I heard you ask Mom that question and she told you yes, you’re a polar bear. Then you asked Grandma and Grandpa the same thing and they also said you’re a polar bear. Now you’re coming to me, so I have to know: why do you keep asking everyone if you’re a real polar bear?” The baby polar bear replies: “Because I’m f***ing freezing!”
  8. I woke up one morning to find an aeroplane outside my bedroom door. Turns out my wife had left the landing lights on.
  9. Flat? 😄 I once had someone say my Deadmans Lane layout was too flat. It's based on the RTC at Derby - it is a flat site................. And going further OT. Just to show that it is prototypical to have locos of different companies and colours sitting side by side. Flickr pic
  10. R30224 showing as arriving soon at Rails
  11. Broadway did it with their Rolling Thunder system using the decoder to transmit to a receiver/amplifier under the layout.
  12. Not too many of them. Rubber tyred "people mover" in DXB airport. A trip on the Metro red line to see the Marina trams and a lucky catch of a works train on the new metro blue line being built. I'll post some pics in afew days when I sort out the various photo sources (three phones and a point n shoot cam)
  13. Such as these.... (Pics from 2018) The bulk of the current fleet is now Brookville BL36s' Although that particular day they were also using one of their rebuilt GP49H-3s. The other end uses a mix of Bombardier "suicide cabs" and Hyundai Rotem cab cars - with a higher position to protect the driver. And especially for @iL Dottore a pic of one of the Siemens SCB-40 Chargers. Much better looking! At the time of the pic, (Jan 2018), the Brightline service was only 1 week into public use. (They use a pair of 4000hp locos on either end of 4 cars - planned for up to seven eventually, so acceleration was brisk, but only allowed up to 79mph on tracks that they share with freight trains. They are allowed to do 125 on the dedicated link to Orlando)
  14. We had a similar issue when our Jeddah-Red Sea cruise that I should have been on today was cancelled a few months back. We were due to visit Petra in Jordan, so a little close to the action - this was before the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait issues with Yemen. The entire winter season for our particular ship was cancelled. So we're just back from a rescheduled trip to the UAE to see Junior NB (who works in Dubai). And great fun it was too.
  15. Mornin' all. Just got back Wednesday from 10 days in the UAE visiting Junior NB (and holidaying). I'll try and look back- but I trust you have all been behaving with no bans/moderation/blood letting/amputations?
  16. Time for them to do a unit. 325 or electrostar is my guess
  17. So it looks like they aren't arriving by end Q1 as predicted not many weeks ago? My airbrush can go back in the cupboard for another month and no panic to have them weathered and in play for York ex on 31 March.
  18. Like my 88 0n order (and MENTOR when I finish it), all I'm bothered about is that the pan head sits flat and level when down.
  19. It's so good, it gets featured twice..... 😆
  20. Never say never! The DBSO is blue star fitted. (I expect it to be reunited with 37409 sometime not too soon.)
  21. Pics of a maroon 69009 starting to appear... Arlington Fleet Services page https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=900991952028142&set=pcb.900992025361468 https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=900992008694803&set=pcb.900992025361468
  22. Errr - didn't they announce the pannier a couple days before the NEC show last year?
