Anyone know the situation? Jonathan I did not think any of the Nucast Partners range was on SEF's website !! The latest list I have is dated Sept 2019 and its there, given its one with an etched chassis I guess its available long term, otherwise why go to the added expence of designing a chassis 1

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 8, 2021 Sorry, the only site I found when searching on Google for Nucast Partners was the SE Finecast one. That has a long list of kits and bits but not the 2021. Obviously I was looking in the wrong place. Presumably Nucast Partners does not have its own website. Anyway, I shall start saving. RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2021 Thanks for the heads up re Squires. Are the chassis packs going to be made available through them or will Dave be continuing to supply these? I'm sure Brian would be able to sell you a complete NuCast Partners kit if you wanted one, he certainly used to have them on his stand at exhibitions. Denbridge
Until the situation regarding Nucast partners is clarified, its best to deal with the other partner, Branchlines. 1
wainwright1
I had a nice chat with Oliver Squire yesterday. My understanding is that all the assets and stock for the SEF kits have now passed to Squires and Dave Ellis will retain and continue with the Nucast Partners kits. I do not know if they have actually started to cast the kits again, but are probably just getting everything sorted and catalogued into their system. I was advised that Dave will continue to assist them with any problems until they get everything running normally on a day to day basis. With regard to the possibility of new kits being produced, I think that the principal problem is that there is a lack of people who can do the pattern making, which apparently has to be done in metal so that the moulds can be vulcanised. Branchlines would as suggested probably be the best point of contact for the Nucast kits. I hope that this helps to verify the situation. All the best Ray Edited February 12, 2021 by wainwright1 spelling corrected 1 3
Popular Post blueapple
From the horses mouth. We at Forest Row can no longer supply any Finecast products. These are now all owned by Squires Tools. The 01342 824722 number is now transfered to Squires as is the '@sefincast' email addresses. As for Nucast, we are currently getting back up and running. We have reasonable stocks of most of the reissues. We have plans to reintroduce at least 4 more kits quite quickly if we do not hit big problems. Some of the problems we encounter are missing or damaged patterns, no instructions. Also a number of the etching tools are 'lost' as are some of the lost wax parts. So each reissue can be a mammoth task. Hence no details of which kits they are. All reissues have new moulds restoring the crispness of the castings. We are still offering a parts service for the kits that have not been reissued but the quality of the castings can be quite variable depending on the state of the mould. Our current list is available from Branchlines as well as ourselves. Our new contact details are :- Tel 01342 822270 Email daveellis05@gmail.com Of course Brian at Branchlines details remain the same. RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted February 17, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) There's more.... Been having a 'chat' with the lovely folks at Squires, about the SEF range and they've sent me their latest a 2019 catalogue/ price list. 'ere 'tis & enjoy PriceList.pdf Edit: Date amended + I've also noticed (on Facebook) that Squires are recruiting for a Vacuum Forming Machine Operator, I guess for the flush glaze and building sheets? Good news if so, looks like they've really gone for it! https://www.facebook.com/jobs/job-opening/446799259701153/?source=post_permlink Edited February 17, 2021 by Tim Dubya 1
MacDuff999
Have followed this thread with interest. I did contact Dave by phone a few eeks ago, after being given his number by Ben Alder. As I understand, he was waiting for casting machine/s and indicated that little will be happening for a month or two at least. I have a particular interest in a Pickersgill class 72 4-4-0, which I believe was previously in the NuCast range, and agreed to phone him again about early May. I am guessing from the above posts, that it is unlikely there will be any stock or parts for the kit with Brian for example. At the moment, I am thinking of maybe? doing a scratch-build, in case nothing positive is on the horizon for quite some time.
The Evil Bus Driver
One kit I like the look of is the N15X, which was a small class of 7 locos based at Basingstoke, so perfect for my own layouts once built as I'm basing things in that region.
