woodenhead
Captain, I fear the end is nigh for Bethesda Sidings. I've seen plenty of traction on the line but nothing that earns any revenue, the only wagon in the yard hasn't moved in many a year and the chap in the weighbridge is clearly concerned about the lack of things for him to weigh. 1
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 19, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2020 There's a reason for that, but never fear. The wagons will come out of hibernation when there are enough nuts and berries for them. 1 1

Other than Tom's lovely subtle weathering have you done anything else to the loco? It looks suitably at home on Bethesada Sidings. It's had screw link couplings fitted, Mark, that's about it, for now. Coming soon, in all likelihood, will be a replacement Comet chassis, as the Oxford chassis just doesn't quite run well enough for my liking. There's also a footplate crew painted by Claudia Everett, waiting to be fitted. 2

It's probably a bit more work, but they go together well. The short answer is that I've already got the Comet one! The slightly more involved answer is that although I've got some locos with HL chassis under them, and they are really superb, they do take longer to complete (there are more components, after all! ) and I'm not convinced that the amount of my (sometimes quite limited) modelling time that one of these would require is really justified, when the Comet one will still look good and, more importantly, should run a lot better than the Oxford one. Yes, there's a lot more detail on the HL one and that's great, but even though 'I would know it's there', will I really notice the difference that much? Not sure, but I've got the Comet chassis in my box of bits now, so it is something that I want to do quite soon. 2
