Once goods are in a container, I doubt the sender nor the recipient will ever know which ship it ends up on (or ships - could easily be transported on more than one)

Perhaps one of the models should have had a GPS tracker fitted??

Container tracking is something the BBC did once :)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Box

You absolutely need to know which ship it is on because you have a fixed amount of time to collect the container from the Dock when it lands before you are charged demurrage.

I would suggest that the guys at Accurascale know what it’s all about By now and will have all the details of the vessel original BOL etc when the time is right. It is far too early to know what vessel they will ship on at this moment ;)

Kernow MRC regularly announced what ship its limited edition models were on, so we could track its progress. In this day and age ALL goods crossing the globe can be made trackable in real time.

Without trying to contradict myself, but I’m both optimistic and pessimistic about their arrival.  The optimist in me is glad that the light is at the end of the tunnel and the wait is nearly over, but the pessimist in me see’s the Chinese New Year as a huge elephant in the room and they won’t arrive in the UK until March/April time.

Either way, I’m 100% sure I’ll have mine for my birthday in June :sungum:

Hi Jools,

March is still Q1, so in line with what we estimated in our last update. That is looking like the most likely time in line with what the factory have told us last week.

Or Train? Increasingly overland rail is being used to move goods from the East to Europe. Becoming more cost effective and time-competitive than shipping in the current environment.

Then there's always airfreight to meet the deadline.....

Hi G-BOAF,

We used the train for our Metrovicks and due to unrest along some of the route (Belarus at that time) it took a lot longer, and actually slightly longer to what we were used to by sea. So at the moment it's not offering a huge advantage over sea.

Hi Phil,

We are told by our shipping agent which ship it goes on so we can track if needs be.

Cheers!

Didn't Dapol do this over 10 years ago, and the plane crashed in the Middle East...

The cargo was actually Britannias, but yes.

There were a couple of thoughtless comments between news of the crash and news that two crew members had died...

As an aside, I'm interested to know how many deltics people have on order? I've got 3 coming to me, which is the most locos I've ever preordered. Anyone ordered all 22 I wonder?

Only the one for me, first one I rode with my Uncle on……..well they (AS) haven’t done the prototype yet  apparently I was only six when I was taken to see DP1 but unfortunately cannot remember much about it apart from it being big, blue and very, very noisy!

55002 and 55015 from rails and 55022 from accurascale for me, just to remind me of the magic years at the end of their BR careers.

Same here, 2,15 and 22,  they're going to be rostered on transpennine turns to justify deltics in Manchester area
