Some from yesterday, supposed to do just a nice little Crewe to small heath job but my relief had to rush to hospital for his partner to have a baby, that’s just inconsiderate!!

ended up working the train back to crewe for him otherwise it would have been stranded in small Heath and I was heading that way home anyway, was a full 12 hour job with 12 hour rest now before I’m back in later but these things happen!

Warrington hasnt changed much in 30 years…

On the surface no, but scratch a little deeper - gone are the coal trains, gone is the wagonload from the yard.

But it's a jolly nice place to get to Birmingham International and Glasgow from!!

By process of elimination I guess thats 40060 ?

pretty rare getting a new sprinter and a non-preserved 40 side by side.

its one of the class 97s that were renumbered for crewe station rebuild in 1985, thats all i know about it

40060 was the only headcode 40 in service in 1986/7 (it was 97405).

40060 was interesting in that it had a headcode box, a Scottish conversion from disc headcodes, it was the last 40 in non-heritage service, D200 as-side.

ive got the booklet somewhere detailing crewe remodelling and all the diversions / temporary timetables etc.

Exciting times.

I think I have too.  Where?  Not a clue!

Spent a Saturday using a mixture of buses and trains to travel over the independent lines.  Happy days, thanks for the memories!

Paul.
