  3. Offcom are apparently unable to involve themselves in individual complaints or disputes, though they can monitor them. Their website says that I have to complain to Tesco as the company I have a contract with, not O2, and that they should be able to give me an idea of when the problem will be resolved; that has not happened to date! If, as I expect, Tesco Mobile are unable to tell me when service will be resumed beyond 'when the birds have flown', I am not sure what the next step will be. Not bothering any more tonight, will take up cudgels again on the morrow; of course, the problem may have resolved itself by then. I have tried switching to 4 and 3G, which makes no difference.
  4. Aww, go on, go on, go on ....... you know you'll want too. It took a couple of minutes, if that, with a good cutter blade and a steady hand. I only trimmed on the one side of each and only along the 6'. There's a slight dip on the extra thick sleeper and I just used that as a guide. The flat bottomed 221 Wagos are good as you can insert a fine bladed tester screwdriver in the slot to see if power is getting there should a fault arise. More tomorrow, Cheers, Philip Hey! I forgot to say the weekend is here!
  5. It’s been a good day. Steve Martin from New Zealand who is building a stunning 2mm model of StErth visited this afternoon and we ran some trains, both commenting that it would be great when we could run trains beyond Bath single line box - then this evening the wiring diagram for Bath Junction dropped into my inbox from the brilliant Frank ‘chuffer’ Davies - clear and simple enough for even this electrical duffer to follow! Next job is to get the point motors fitted and wired back to the frame. Harrap crossing next - under the roof by Christmas ..... Jerry
  6. Dance, dance, dance little lady Youth is fleeting to the rhythm Beating in your mind Dance, dance, dance little lady So obsessed with second best No rest you’ll ever find Time and tide and trouble Never, never ...
  7. Looking good. That warehouse is just screaming to say “MIDLAND RAILWAY GOODS WAREHOUSE’ in faded white lettering! Paul.
  8. Tonight's dinner was interrupted by this flying over the house...
  9. Just come across this news... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c29986423x9o More Aventras for TfL
  10. I'm not quite sure how they can't recognise England, as a part of London, which was such a significant part of their historical beginnings. I blame their {Gov't directed} education system which seems to have some distance from factual reality.
  11. I am, of course, in full agreement with this, and will remember it when contract comes up for renewal. Unfortunately, that won't be for a while, but I'm obviously not going to get an O2 or Tesco PAYG SIM.
  12. 1. Which Manufacturer should enter TT:120? Accurascale Bachmann Dapol yes Rapido Trains RevolutioN Trains Others yes
  13. I've got shelves and shelves full of books about British Railways in the steam era, and I've never heard of these vans. The scarcity of photographs of them indicates they are indeed obscure, except to that small band of rivet-counters who look down their noses at the lesser mortals who model companies rely on to buy their products and create their profits.
  14. I’m hoping to do something myself after an absence of a few years. Just need to get this house refurb out of the way..
  15. Like it. That happened to be my convention on the previous layout. Not by design, just that I had wired droppers in red and black with red ‘inside’ and black ‘outside’, which then equated to brown = red and blue = black for the thicker bus connections. This time around I decided to go for Black to Back (or should it be Back to Black). All is well except on reused curved points as they cannot be rotated to get the droppers right so I have Bodged It with coloured IKEA Hama bead lookalikes. Hod I had your inspiration I could have retained the old convention! I like Wago connectors. I was going to suggest them to save needing gravity defying solder. My club bought some cheap copies (from China probably) as an experiment: a failed experiment because they didn’t grip the wires properly. Test a few before buying in bulk if using lookalikes. And test inserting and removing a few times because that’s when ours failed to grip. And if using the genuine article, go for the 221 version with the clear flat bottomed case - I went for the grey plastic 222 which don’t have a flat base and are the sort of plastic that self adhesive or standard glue gun glue doesn’t like. (I’m using a PVC suitable glue stick now with more success.) Good! The electrical issue with snap over that I mentioned is that if the frog wire is connected to the switch but the link wires are left in place, there is a good chance that the point will snap at a different time to the contact changeover and create a transient track short. Your wiring won’t suffer from that. And finally . . . I like your point mods. Spot on. You’ve put me to shame by thinning down the oversize sleepers. I’ve got 8 down which won’t be changing, but what about the next 8? Consistency? Or ‘do it properly’? ;-) Paul.
  16. Evening Awl, We had about, 50 visitors at the radar museum today, I saw half a dozen.. I repaired dozens of switch caps, and two switches. One of which was a full strip down to component parts and a nearly all new plastic centre section. Created from plastic tube, some remains and a wrap of 1mm plastic card. The last notice board has been repaired and reaffixed to the wall. Bought very cheaply a book on RAF North Cairn, very interesting, some aspects of a Chain home radar station described I'd not seen elsewhere. https://insitu.org.uk/2023/03/13/raf-north-cairn/ Next week I should restart making dioramas, this time RAF Neatishead today for which I'll need some 1/1000 deer. Just after arriving at the MRC there was a huge short storm Thor was very angry for a short time. At the MRC the SWO is looking like a SWO, the airman on jankers is not looking quite as good, and the second airman will be on gate guard soon. Made today, a 1/150 tin of white paint and a paint brush affixed to the hand of the man on jankers. On leaving heavy rain returned, got quite soggy once I got out of the landrover. Muggachoccy gone Goodnight Awl.
  17. If shopping for a landline handset you might want to future proof yourself for broadband calling, rolling out soon I believe. Reviews of compatible handsets are as clear as mud, but I went with one of these and it plugged straight into my Vodafone hub no bother: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4507327?clickSR=slp:term:voip phone:22:933:1 C6T.
  18. Definitely looks (and runs) like good modelling to me as well - well done! Indoor garden railways are quite rare too, I think you’ve found a niche. Impressed, Keith.
  19. I'm sure we all hope Aditi is recovering well. This "getting old sh*t" does tend to be a bit of bummer, although I really have no reason to complain.
  20. The NYMR loco is 80135, not 80136.
  21. Looking good mate! Already mentioned on facebook, but that green (& yellow!) looks to put the hattons rendition to shame. Sits lovely against those JNA’s and the station. Right at home!
  22. Could it be a Scotland Euro 2024 celebration train set? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Comes with Flying Scotsman in special tartan livery and 11 statues. Only guaranteed to work for 10 minutes. No trophy included. Airfix to announce the England airplane home special edition after the quarter finals 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  23. We are in Dorset. Not too bad a journey. Satnav traffic advice was to use the A3 not the M3. That was ok. Various minor hold ups after Southampton. We stopped at Kingston Lacey National Trust for a cup of tea. As we approached the tea rooms Aditi fell over and landed on her face scraping her lips. Later we found she had hit her nose too and her knees were sore. First aiders were summoned and once the surprise of hitting the ground hard passed she was fine. We did get the cup of tea, courtesy of the NT staff who were very kind. When we got here I unloaded the car and did dinner. That is a bit of an exaggeration I microwaved the chilli and rice Aditi had prepared and frozen last week. The cottage is very comfortable. Tony
