  1. Past hour
  2. Kato make a set of wrapped cars in 1:150. While on the subject of wrapping, HFR160 in France is bringing out the Peugeot 206 and Renault Clio as a clear moulded body but wrapped in a full colour detailed transfer to represent the body colour and fittings. These are intended to be used on Gefco and STVA car transporters in 1:160 and will be about 5 euros each when released in late summer. These are being made currently. I think that adding the one piece transfer might be a bit like putting in a contact lens until you get used to doing it. Someone has been trained specially for the job. This is a photo from the topic on the French N gauge Forum. The cars will be sold fully finished.
  3. I agree about the barriers, as a visitor it's nice to have an arm rest and as an operator it's nice not to get jostled by the viewer unaware of personal space! Whilst operating Bwthyn Y Rhosod I did occasionally pull the barriers a little closer to the layout as they seemed to migrate away throughout the day,no point bringing a layout for people to see if they can't see it.....
  4. No way! It was a great day and I’m glad I went. Hope you had a nice time too.
  5. Not tried it but it looks like a drop in swap with extended axles. Brake shoes will probably need moving as they align with OO spacing. I’m pleased with mine.
  6. Always worth stopping at Grantham to watch the trains go by 😀
  7. Looking forward to seeing you there, hopefully it'll be a good fun day and fingers crossed for lots of visitors
  8. Apologies, my mistake. I had failed to note the ring on signal 15. Presumably, working the coal siding would be self contained to the freight section of the line, rather than using the halt or was that not how it was done?
  9. yes - British Rail 350bhp diesel shunters have actually worked through the street running sections of Metrolink into the city centre during engineering possessions for track relaying
  10. Yet more Deltic this bright, fine morning. With 13 on, Deltic is well off the platform end. Can our railwaymen, former or present, enlighten me on matters procedural? What would happen here as regards passengers in the coaches which were not at the platforms? Would it be a case of moving the train up during the stop, or would the guard have visited the overhanging coaches, front or rear, and advised passengers wishing to alight at Peterborough to move along a carriage or two? The latter would be much simpler, provided peope took notice.
  11. Do expand upon that remark. I suspect I know what is meant but at face value that seems rather insensitive and unpleasant. Careful what you wish for. £10 an issue may be affordable for yourself but many might not be in that fortunate position. Such s move could ultimately affect sales. End result ? There'd be no MRJ. Rob.
  12. Do you think he reads this thread..🤔
  13. and another one to follow on the investigation.
  14. The Peco rail is Code 83 with a code 55 visible railhead so a better match for the Tillig rail height. I know some N gauge modellers face challenges matching Peco Code 55 with Peco Code 80 seamlessly.
  15. Hmmm… More ideas… I’ve heard horror stories about the old Bachmann 4-8-4s having split axle issues, and given how I’m not keen on the split chassis design, I’m tempted by the prospect of using a Princess chassis to get one of those running… Would make for an interesting sight on my layout…
  16. Here is 56008 doing what she was built for. Note how sure-footed she is over the crossovers.
  17. De Nile ain't just a river in Egypt, doncha know? It's sad to see An Esteemed Bear slowly poison himself (not to mention offer comfort and sustenance to pre-malignant cells) through the unbridled consumption of additives, preservatives and more E-numbers than you can shake an EU Directive at. But, hey-ho, at least he's being BRITISH (the UK has the highest consumption of Ultra Processed Foods in Europe. with the average adult getting 57% of their calorie intake from UPF). But looking on the bright side, that leaves more of the good stuff for me.
  18. Now that really is ‘orrible. I once got bitten on the thumb in Singapore by a small green spider and my thumb swelled up and was painful for a while but that……. Dave
  19. I once had a copy arrive in a cardboard-backed envelope that had been seriously damaged in the post. A quick phone call and another copy duly arrived a couple of days later; excellent service. More recently, my copy along with two other items of mail arrived during a massive thunderstorm. The two other items of mail in paper/card envelopes were saturated together with the contents, yet MRJ was in pristine condition. I was mightily pleased it was in a plastic bag!
  20. Since we are back onto one of my other favourite subjects, ie reptiles, here is another nasty little one to be aware of: Atractaspis bibronii: The Stiletto Snake. It mainly lives underground, so it has developed fangs that stick out of the side of it's head, so can strike sideways. It means that it is very dangerous to try and hold one by it's neck as it will just turn it's head slightly and stick one with a single fang. It has a cytotoxic venom for which there is no known antidote. Although not generally fatal it will cause severe swelling blistering pain and necrosis, which can lead to the loss of the bitten digit After the Mozambique Spitting Cobra and the Puff Adder, it is the third most common cause of venomous snake bites in Africa. Nasty little blighter. Makes my duel with the old table saw look like a walk in the park! Enjoy breakfast.
  21. As the CVs have been altered, try doing a factory reset putting CV 8 back to 8. This will restore the factory settings to the decoder and put the address back to three. That should restore the volume to factory set level. Rob
  22. Interestingly, I too have heard nothing following an enquiry at the beginning of March - in my case for my breakdown train.
