Nearholmer
Well, the loco certainly looks the biz. Your outrigger wheels, I'm particularly impressed by. K
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 22, 2016 The wheels were a very kind gift from another member - they are fantastic and way beyond my skill set.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) How difficult can it be to wire up 2 flippin'wires ? Yep, one of the reeds is faulty and is shorting out.... Update : little b*****d found and removed... on to the bridge Edited April 22, 2016 by Stubby47
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 22, 2016 It turns out the loco only has two speeds - yep, off and warp 9. Even on high resistance & half wave, it's going to cause whiplash. Which means, of couse, it is ( partially) working - just not very smoothly.
Talltim
I was just wondering that. Hornby 040s aren't renowned for their slow speed controllability
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 22, 2016 Not having a slow speed could be problematic as the layout isn't a full loop yet...

rockershovel
I'm waiting to see this run. I can't understand what is meant to keep it on the rail; it reminds me of a sidecar outfit, where the bike tends to run around the sidecar. I can see that the prototype has dual flanged wheels, but what about the model?
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 23, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 23, 2016 The l/h side wheels on the loco chassis have a disc of plasticard which acts as an extra flange. They are cut to fit around the centre boss and pin, so as not to interfere with the con rod. In the brief trials this seems to work well. Ok, so the challenges today are : Fit the magnets to the coach so they are in the mosf effective position Finish the bridge Add the return loop Order 3 meals Print identifying badges Plus lots of other things...
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted April 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 23, 2016 Hi Stu, I hate to break this to you but I feel it's only fair. This whole thing about the Patiala railway being monorail is just a myth. Everyone here has just been having you on. Here's the original of Burgundy's excellent photo to prove it. Hope you're not too upset., we've all been having a laugh. PS: That's my way of saying good luck, it's a fantastic project

Nearholmer
The queue for the inaugural run is building-up. Armed police are on standby in case of trouble.
